Meet Darnell Murphy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darnell Murphy.

Hi Darnell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Originally, I am from Alexandria, Louisiana. Coming from a military family, I traveled a lot and was exposed to many different things. Two of the biggest influence I had was Master P and my wife. Both had the mindset of entrepreneurship, so constantly being around that made me want to have something of my own. When I got into professional fighting, is when I wanted to start repping and wearing my own gear.

You see many professional athletes do so, but unfortunately, my mindset was too focused on just fighting and trying to survive. It wasn’t until 2020, during the pandemic, I had the spark to put my all into creating my own apparel line and offering custom productions for others. The mission that I wanted the brand to represent was to be a symbol of empowerment. A reminder to never give up on yourself and your goals and others.

Also to be the number one brand that gives back financial support to the unfortunate. NevaStop Apparel was officially born when I crossed paths with a master designer by the name of Walt Anderson, who became my lead designer and business brother.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? I would be lying if I said yes. Unfortunately, my path wasn’t smooth, but I’m thankful for that. Because it has taught me a lot about myself, It allowed me to increase my skill sets and broaden my approach in the game of designing and clothing.

The main struggle I had was connecting with people that understood and felt the message/mission my brand was bringing to the table. Also, to separate myself from the thousands of other clothing brands out there

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, right now, I am a transporter for a very private company, personal trainer, and Mixed Martial Arts Competitor. What I specialize in, is martial arts and armed security protection.

What I am most proud of, is my growth during hardships and my constant growth with my wife and family. What sets me apart from others, is my character and genuine spirit, and will to always help.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I really got into podcasting myself. Speaking out on my podcast has truly helped me become better in general. But my number one influence podcast I listen to is Brandon Marshall’s “I AM AN ATHLETE.”
