Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Turner.
Hi Craig, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello Voyage Baltimore! I’m so honored to speak with you guys and grateful for the opportunity to share my story about my passion called C. Turner Events. My career started many many moons ago when my parents hosted a Mother’s Day Celebration for all the women in our family. The setup, the decor, and the many details that they were handling sparked my interest.
After watching them many times, I jumped on board to assist with our family events. After many years of working in the hospitality industry and speaking with many vendors, I decided to pursue my passion in 2016 and launch C. Turner Events. Since 2016, I have truly felt my purpose on this journey called life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is there such a thing as a smooth road? LOL! The past five years that I’ve been in business have shown me every kind of struggle this industry has. From missing in action mother of the brides to food dropping for a very sensitive guest. That was my favorite! One of my major challenges was working hard for others, while also doing the same for my business. That means EXTRA long hours to make sure that my clients always feel important and know that they matter to my company.
When I first started, my biggest struggle was getting new people to believe in me and my brand. To some, I didn’t have enough experience, and to others, I didn’t have a “name” as of yet. I still have a few struggles, but my faith pushes me to overcome them all.
I know many would think the pandemic would’ve been a struggle, but I’m actually grateful for that time. I was able to rebrand my business, take in quite a few virtual workshops and finally launch my website.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am full of energy in love with love Wedding and Event Planner! I specialize in turning dreams into a reality! Sounds cliche, but it’s so true. C. Turner Events is known for being a very personable and compassionate company. What really sets us apart is our ability to become besties with our clients. From the very start, I share with our clients that it’s never a time, problem, or thought, that they can’t reach out and share.
During the initial consultation, I share that I take on each event or wedding as if it were my own. When clients hear this, they KNOW that they are in good hands with C. Turner Events. This statement is so true, that I will get off a red-eye flight and run right to a site visit. We’ve become so close to our clients that we attend events that they host, AS GUESTS! I love keeping in contact with past clients.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something REALLY surprising that folks may not know about me is that I am an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. That’s right, I can marry and bury! Well, I would rather do more of the first item. I did this because within this industry, ANYTHING can happen and I don’t want my wedding clients to think just because the minister is stuck in traffic, we can’t move forward with the ceremony.
