Meet Christian Givens

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Christian Givens.

Christian Givens

Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story starts with my love for entrepreneurship. I grew up in a family full of entrepreneurs and leaders. My grandmother was a successful entrepreneur. My grandfather was a Tuskegee airman, a successful federal government worker, and a respected Bishop in a large church in DC. Those two were my biggest role models!

My father was also heavily involved in the real estate industry as a master plumber, general contractor, house flipper, and landlord. My love for real estate really developed because of him. I saw how pivotal real estate was for stability and wealth creation. After I graduated college, I purchased my first property at the age of 22, and I came to the realization that real estate was the industry that I wanted to grow in.

In 2016, I was really wondering what the next thing for me was when my job had to let go of its staff. That’s when I decided to pursue real estate as a licensed realtor. After many years of really struggling to commit to it, I found myself pursuing it full-time (for the second time around) in 2021.

When I got back into real estate, I was so excited, but it was not an easy path to where I am today. The one thing I was certain about, though, was I was meant to do this, and I wanted to grow my business through social media, so I put my nose to the grind and haven’t looked back.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth at all. I realized how much I did not know about growing a successful brand, so in my true fashion, I went searching for ways to better myself. I found myself spending tens of thousands of dollars on coaching and training and whatever could help me keep going.

I also found that my personal life also impacted my work if I let it. One of the biggest challenges had to do with health issues that came up with my sister. That period of time literally made me so depressed that I found it hard to do my daily tasks for work.

We’ve been impressed with your work, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a realtor based out of the DC area. I serve DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia Markets. I get the honor of helping people purchase first (second, third) homes, sell their homes, and create generational wealth through real estate.

My specialization on the listing side of the business is marketing. I take great joy in exposing my client’s home to as many potential buyers as possible through my social media accounts. I want my sellers to say, “He made our home into a local celebrity.” And I do just that in most cases! It’s a blast!

On the buy side of the business, a lot of my clients are either first-time homebuyers, moving up, or are downsizing. I have also done a good amount of work with Veteran buyers. I make sure my buyers know the current state of the market and how to be competitive in any market, and I give them the resources and tools to be successful in their home search.

I get the honor to serve in this capacity, and I do not take for granted anyone trusting me to help them buy or sell a home. I aim to do it with excellence and in a way that my clients can be confident that I have their best interests in mind at all times.

Selling or buying a home can be a very stressful and time consuming thing, but my job is to make sure that you feel as little stress as possible and that you can still focus on your daily life as much as possible.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I would say success is knowing that you are doing something you love or that you are making a difference in the world. I think that the people I would call successful have three things in common. First, they have the love and support of their family and friends. Community is the most important thing.

Second, they grow from good and bad things that happen in their lives. They know that everything is an opportunity for growth.

Third, they aim to give back to the world and people around them. They do not have a scarcity mindset… They operate out of an abundance mindset. They also give back generously.
