Meet Britney Wambold of Wambold Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Wambold.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in short-term rentals by combining my background in business, marketing, and hospitality with my passion for design and real estate. What began as creating and managing my own properties quickly turned into helping other investors maximize the potential of their spaces through strategic design, guest experience, and operational support.

I’m the founder of Wambold Properties, where I focus on short-term rental management, design, and marketing. Over time, I realized that creating a successful Airbnb is about much more than furnishing a space — it’s about understanding the guest avatar, building an experience people want to book and share online, and operating the property in a way that drives long-term profitability.

I’ve worked on properties across multiple markets, including Nashville, the Poconos, Hampton Roads, and beyond, with projects ranging from themed bachelorette-focused stays like “Pretty in Pink” to more elevated, boutique-style concepts. My approach blends data and creativity by using market research, pricing strategy, branding, and design to help properties stand out in increasingly competitive markets.

Alongside running my business, I’ve built a strong presence in the STR community through content creation, speaking, podcast interviews, masterminds, and my own series, Rental Ready, where I interview industry professionals ranging from realtors and CPAs to operators and hosts across the country.

What I love most about the industry is that it combines entrepreneurship, hospitality, branding, real estate investing, and creativity all in one. I’m passionate about helping people create spaces that are both financially successful and memorable for guests.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles along the way has been learning how many moving pieces there are behind running a successful short-term rental business. From design delays and supply chain issues to managing cleaners, maintenance vendors, guest expectations, and ever-changing platform regulations, there are constantly challenges that require quick problem-solving and adaptability.

Another challenge has been balancing growth with stability. I built my business while also working full-time in the corporate world, so there were many late nights, weekends, and moments where I had to take risks, trust myself, and learn as I went. Scaling a business in hospitality can look glamorous online, but behind the scenes it requires a huge amount of operational structure, communication, and resilience.

I’ve also learned that not every property or partnership is the right fit. There have been situations where expectations between owners, vendors, or operators were misaligned, and I had to become much stronger in setting boundaries, contracts, and systems. Those experiences taught me the importance of protecting both the client experience and my team.

The industry itself has also become significantly more competitive. A few years ago, simply having an Airbnb was enough. Now, design, branding, marketing, pricing strategy, and guest experience matter more than ever. That shift pushed me to continuously evolve, invest in education, and focus heavily on creating memorable, experience-driven properties that stand out in crowded markets.

At the same time, those challenges are also what made me grow the most as an entrepreneur. They forced me to become more strategic, more resilient, and more intentional about how I build both my business and the experiences we create for guests.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Wambold Properties ?
Wambold Properties is a short-term rental management, design, and marketing company focused on helping investors and owners create high-performing, experience-driven vacation rentals. We work with clients at multiple stages, whether they are launching their first Airbnb, redesigning an existing property, or looking for full-service management and operational support.

What sets us apart is that we approach short-term rentals from both a creative and strategic perspective. We don’t just make spaces look pretty — every design decision is made with the guest avatar, booking psychology, market positioning, and ROI in mind. We focus heavily on creating properties that are memorable, highly shareable online, and capable of standing out in increasingly saturated markets.

We’re especially known for themed and personality-driven spaces that still feel elevated and intentional. Some of our projects lean playful and bold, while others are more boutique and lifestyle-focused, but the common thread is that we create spaces designed to generate emotion, experiences, and stronger booking performance. We also combine that design focus with operational strategy, pricing optimization, guest communication systems, and social media marketing, which allows owners to view their property more like a hospitality brand than just a rental.

Another thing that makes our company unique is that we understand both the investor side and the hospitality side. We look closely at data, market trends, and revenue strategy while also understanding what actually creates a five-star guest experience. That balance has helped us build strong relationships with owners who want both profitability and long-term brand value.

Beyond the properties themselves, I’m proud of the community and educational side of the brand. Through content creation, speaking, podcast interviews, industry masterminds, and my Rental Ready interview series, I’ve been able to connect with and learn from people across the short-term rental industry. Education, collaboration, and continuously improving are a huge part of our company culture.

I want readers to know that our goal is not just to manage properties — it’s to help people build standout hospitality brands and experiences that guests genuinely remember.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
A surprising thing about my journey is that I built and grew much of my short-term rental business while still working full-time in the corporate world. A lot of people assume you have to quit your job immediately to build something entrepreneurial, but for me it started with nights, weekends, learning as I went, and slowly building systems and a team over time.

Another thing people are often surprised by is how much psychology and branding go into successful short-term rentals. It’s not just about having a clean or nicely furnished property anymore. The strongest-performing spaces are often the ones that create a specific feeling, experience, or identity for the guest. In many ways, it feels closer to building a lifestyle or hospitality brand than simply managing real estate.

People are also surprised by how much of the business involves problem-solving and operations behind the scenes. Social media tends to show the fun design side, but there’s also logistics, vendor coordination, pricing strategy, guest communication, team management, and constant adaptation happening every day behind the scenes.
