Meet Brenda Nettey of TO HER FUTURE SELF, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Nettey

Hi Brenda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Brenda Nettey and I am a licensed therapist & social worker (LCSW-C) in Maryland with 5 years of experience helping individuals navigate their emotional and psychological challenges. In 2018, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Family Science from Towson University, and in 2020, my Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical concentration from The University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Since 2020, I have provided tools and interventions to hundreds of clients dealing with anxiety disorder, depression disorders, trauma, grief, bipolar disorders, and relationship or family issues. Through my compassionate and client-centered approach, I am dedicated to supporting others in their healing and growth.

My passion for mental health grew from my personal experiences with anxiety, practicing gratitude, journaling, therapy, and witnessing my family members struggle with depression disorders, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorders, and anxiety disorders. My faith in God plays a pivotal role in her life, and she highlights the importance of community and guiding others closer to God as a key part of their healing.

Driven by her experiences, Brenda has committed her career to supporting others on their journey to growth and recovery. This passion led her to create “To Her Future Self,” a community of like-minded women who support and encourage one another in all areas of life. She also designed the “To Her Future Self Gratitude and Reflection Journal,” which helps individuals reflect deeply and cultivate self-awareness.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! The road has been far from smooth. I’ve faced a lot of imposter syndrome, questioning whether I truly have the tools to help others as a therapist when I’m still working on myself. I’ve also had moments of self-doubt, wondering if people will actually benefit from the events I host, if they’ll show up, or if my journal will resonate with others.

There have been times I’ve questioned if all the time and energy I’m putting into this business is really worth it. But through it all, I’ve been working to strengthen my faith, trust in God, and stay consistent on my path. I’ve come to believe that my gifts and talents will attract the right people, and that my success doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Keeping this in mind helps me stay focused, disciplined, and committed, even when there are bumps along the way. Embracing the journey has been a big part of the growth.

I always remember these verses, which have strengthened my confidence, perseverance, and trust in God’s faithfulness:

Joshua 1:9: ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

Matthew 6:33-34: ‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’

Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

These verses remind me to stay grounded, lean into God’s promises, and approach each day with courage, faith, and unwavering trust in His plan.

How do you define success?
Success is truly about identifying and utilizing your God given gifts. t’s not just about achieving a specific goal or accumulating accolades; it’s about living in alignment with one’s values, purpose, and vision. True success involves personal growth, delayed gratification, challenges, fulfillment, and giving back to others. Success is not solely measured by external achievements such as money. Ultimately, it’s about becoming the best version of yourself and creating a life that feels both meaningful and aligned with your deepest values.
