Meet Bianca Willis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Willis.

Hi Bianca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Bianca Founder of Learning To Live Movement Inc a non-profit that provides travel opportunities to high school kids of color. When I was 19 I got the opportunity to move to California. That changed my life completely. I started living life differently and I was loving it. After about two years of living there, I took a solo 30 day trip to Australia. Mind-Blowing. I found myself on top of a mountain on a small Island call Stradbrook Island in Australia, just looking out at my surroundings amazed that I was living the life I dreamed of. I couldn’t help but think “I wish I could expose others to the things I was exposed to” So that’s when I came up with the idea for my organization, Learning To Live Movement. I wanted to show kids how to learn to live differently and find themselves. After 2-3 years of building, making changes, making connections, learning, making mistakes, etc. I finally got to take 3 kids to Belize and now the success continues. Travel is a passion of mine as well as inspiring people to just live their
lives, fully.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Heck to the no! Getting funding is a struggle every day. Not giving up when things fall apart is a struggle. Figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Having to do it all until you have the funds to pay a team. The list goes on. Going for the things you want in life and making big moves I feel is never a smooth road but it’s definitely one of the best journeys ever.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for being a travel junkie, the life of the party, get-it doner, and boss. I am a general manager of a wine bar in Fells Point and soon to be part owner. And then you have me as the founder of my non-profit so I’m usually doing literally everything that requires a business to run. I’m most proud of actually doing the things I say I want to do and I’m proud of the person I am every day as far as my personality and energy.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Just start. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas. Most likely you’ll share and get some great advice or connect some dots. If someone tries to steal your ideas don’t worry they can’t do it like you. You have Adidas, Nike and Under Armour and they are all still doing great. Don’t doubt yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Asking for help will get you a long way. Do your research, at all times even when you think you know it all. Write everything down. Stick to your word. Most importantly be honest with yourself and others and listen to your body.
