Meet Amy Reid of Party Girl Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Reid. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Party Girl Entertainment is run and operated by Amy Reid; an active Baltimore DJ, musician and events curator performing since 2010. Driven by music, a sincere joy of the dance floor and the power it has to bring people together, she formed PGE in 2019 with this goal in mind. Performing in spaces ranging from DIY foundations to museums, she is happy to accommodate venues both intimate and expansive. In 2017, The Baltimore Sun deemed Reid as one of “10 Baltimore Musicians on the Rise.” She has also been featured in Baltimore Magazine’s “Faces of Pride” issue in 2019. Her favorite party starters are Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was difficult for me to initially tap into the wedding industry. I noticed a lack of women and LGBTQ representation in the industry so I think Party Girl Entertainment has something new to offer. What started off as djing a few friend’s wedding has turned into a stacked calendar and happy customers.

We’ve been impressed with Party Girl Entertainment LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Party Girl Entertainment offers top-notch djing while maintaining competitive pricing. I am known for keeping the dance floor packed, being communicative, and going with the flow. I think being a queer women in the wedding industry sets me apart. Everyone wants to see themselves represented at their own celebration and the majority of dj companies in Baltimore have little to no women representation. I am proud to represent that as a company and I hope to expand, providing other djs in Baltimore with the equipment they need as well as opportunities to break into the wedding industry. I think that what also sets me apart Is that I leave my ego at door when approaching a wedding. I always have my party starters in my back pocket but, want to make sure I play every song you want to hear throughout the night. We are always updating our equipment and will soon be offering party lighting!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I want Party Girl Entertainment to be a resource for the dj community. I hope that my business keeps growing and I am able to train other djs, provide equipment and share opportunities. I am working on my first four part workshop series for musicians that will focus on the business of music, basic equipment set up & mixing, local grants & grant writing, and a virtual dj happy hour. Right now, we are working on building a strong foundation, business model and stay community-oriented.
