Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Tracey III.
Hi Allen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been mechanically inclined and knew I wanted to find a career where I could use that skill set. I was inspired to go into the plumbing field by working alongside my grandfather who owned a plumbing company of his own in Towson, Maryland, and my uncle who recently took over that business. I worked for my family’s business for years as an apprentice and journeyman plumber prior to gaining my master’s license and recently starting my own plumbing business, Tracey Plumbing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Becoming a master plumber, which is the license required to run your own plumbing business, takes a lot of time, dedication, and hard work. It wasn’t always a smooth road to get to this point, from getting in thousands of hours of on-the-job training to studying and passing my journeyman and ultimately my master’s exam, but it was all worth it, in the end, to be able to start my own business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tracey Plumbing?
Tracey Plumbing is a premier residential plumbing business servicing the greater Baltimore area. Services offered include water heaters, boilers, water treatments, sewer lines, water line replacements, fixture repair and replacement, and general home plumbing maintenance. As the owner of Tracey Plumbing and an experienced licensed master plumber and gas fitter, I pride myself on providing honest, friendly, and reliable service to all of my customers.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Branching out on my own and starting my own business was a huge risk in itself. After putting in the time and dedication it takes to become a master plumber, I built up the confidence in myself and the customer base that I needed to get started on my own. Through that process, which took years of hard work, dedication, and planning, I was able to believe in myself enough to take the huge risk of starting my own company. I’m so glad I put in the work and took that risk.
