Meet Al Davis of Skyy Myles LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Davis

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started investing into real estate in 1999, when we purchased our first property, however, the person in which we were working with was unethical and misled us regarding his purchase price, the tenant and the resale. Dispite the obsticles, we began to establish relationships within the industry and learned the art of assignments. After learning assignments, we established relationships with serveral banks, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Ocwen, etc. we entered into agreements with them to market their foreclosure units, so we would contract the houses at one price and assign to perspective investors at a slightly higher price, enabling us to make a profit, once those relationships were established, word of mouth through the industry allowed us to take on more banks and asset companies. After wholesaling hundreds of properties we began to acquire the units, keep , renovate and sell for ourselves. As of today we have acquired, renovated, lease or sold over 200 properties in Baltimore, Washington, D.C. area. We have been blessed enough to form other related and non related businesses such as a contracting company, one of the first tenant placement agencies, realestate mentoring, development company to buld new townhomes for homeowners, a promotion company, a beverage company. At our peak, we had 37 rental properties. It’s been a joy for us to have helped so many people by providing adequate housing for low income, disabled and disadvantaged individuals and families. We work with approxiatemately thirteen subsidized programs assisting them in providing housing.
Through our Non profit,(Rize, Inc) we provide opportunities for young adults and children to learn skills, while becoming physically fit through boxing, while at the same time earning a living by showing their skills through professional boxing matches financed by us. Some of the challanges are getting sponsorship from individuals and companies to continue our mission.
Currently, we are looking for ways to diversify, by looking to invest in Coffee shops in Maryland, continue to get support form politicians to keep erecting new living quarters for more homeowners, in what was previously less desireable areas in Baltimore.
We have also been able to build great relationship with government officials inthe State of Maryland and the Baltimore City government, by having a “good name” and excellent work, we became a very credible and reliable resource with in the City.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been a smooth one, as some of the obsticles stated in the previous paragraph suggest.
