Life & Work with Triple Threat Brass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Triple Threat Brass.

Hello Triple Threat Brass, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
We all met each other as kids through a local music program. As we got older, we noticed that we wanted to take music more seriously and actually do it as a profession.

Triple Threat Brass was created in 2019 based on the overall concept of wanting to push various boundaries with the basic norms of music, and just simply extend those elements to a new level. As of 2020, we’ve been able to perform for numerous events, as well as, collaborate with many amazing businesses, all within Baltimore.

Jordan Hendricks, Alto Saxophone; Branden Midgette, Trombone; Lowrider James, Tuba/Sousaphone; Devron Dennis, Drums.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of our biggest challenges has been getting a very strong platform.

We love making music and also love sharing it, but as we were becoming an upcoming band it was quite hard getting shows that’ll truly show the talent within our ensemble.

This really played a significant part because it caused a lack of motivation, and also unity. Even though this challenge occurred we continued to dedicate ourselves to our goals and we’ve never looked back since.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Triple Threat Brass is a collective ensemble involved with very talented Baltimore-bred musicians.

We love going around the city and sharing our gifts with others. We specialize in creating music for any occasion. We’re known for the versatility of our sound. We’re most proud of our supporters, we’ve played many shows but it truly wouldn’t be possible without them.

We believe that our versatility plays a huge part in the difference between others, we create our own songs as well as arrange other people’s works. We extend the boundaries with the typical music norms which makes us very unique.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people don’t know about our actual ages. Branden (trombone) is 16 years old. Lowrider (tuba) is 17. Jordan (saxophone) is 19. And Devron (drums) is 21.
