Life & Work with Naeemah Staggs of Glen Burnie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naeemah Staggs

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and have spent most of my life benefitting from the power of community. I now help ensure others have the same opportunity.

Professionally, I am a former licensed counselor who now uses my clinical expertise to provide training to equip participants with practical tools and skills to help communities heal and thrive. From child welfare to suicide prevention, I am passionate about empowering everyone to be part of the solution in their community.

Passionately, motherhood motivated me to write children’s books that inspire young minds to thrive.

Personally, I am inspired by everyday heroes making a difference in the lives of others, so I try to do my part in supporting community organizations, including Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Mental Health Association of Maryland, Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, and Mocha Moms.

.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing into your purpose is rarely a smooth road. My struggles consisted of the usual suspects: self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and procrastinating because “it’s not the right time.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an experienced educator and coach skilled in teaching and training across various educational levels and formats, including PK-12, graduate education, and professional development in online, hybrid, and face-to-face settings. As a trainer and consultant, I facilitate ways for individuals, communities, and organizations to better serve our most vulnerable populations by developing and delivering curricula for students, professionals, and the community. With over twenty years of experience in child welfare and mental health, I currently serve as an instructor and consultant for multiple organizations, including Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Mental Health Association of Maryland, Darkness to Light, the Trevor Project, and the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

I am also the author of two published children’s books, Dear Daughter and Triple Threat. Both stories empower children to be bold and live inspired lives.

I received my Master of Human Services (MHS) degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and am studying for a Doctorate of Education at Frostburg State University.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m available to speak to various groups about child protection, mental health, trauma, suicide prevention, and more. I’m always open to new ideas and opportunities. I am also available for consulting and coaching. You can find out more and purchase my books on my website www.naeemahstaggs.com .
