Life & Work with Madi Low of East

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Low.

Hi Madi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up with a lot of musically inclined people in my family—rappers, singers, DJs, everything. Then one day, I saw this movie called Interstella 5555, an animated film set to the entire Daft Punk album “Discovery,” & I knew I had to do something with music. I got fruity loops, linked with the homies, & was making music ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth. But it has been an adventure there’s been a lot, from traveling all over the place. Trying to figure out how to move my career upward to my sense of self-discovery. I learned what I would & won’t do in music while, in the same breath broadening my perspective on what can even be done in music. The new struggle is balancing & nurturing the relationships I have with artists. I try to maintain long-term relationships with artists, so that’s always a challenge to know how to maneuver going forward—knowing when to push & when to ease up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Truthfully I’m known for being resourceful & pulling things together, making things happen when it seems hard to do. That’s the main thing people who know me know me for. I do photography & graphic design occasionally. I’m currently dipping my toes into videography (still learning tho). Music production will always be my home. That’s what I’m most proud of & I’d say my sound selection sets me apart from most. When you hear certain things, you’ll know it’s me.

What are your plans for the future?
I got an EP coming with Trey Rx soon. Also, Shon Ski has 3 tracks I did for her that will be an EP coming soon too. It should be an eventful year for me.
