Life & Work with KruddTheGuru

Today we’d like to introduce you to KruddTheGuru.

Hi KruddTheGuru, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music in my homies basement studio a little after I graduated high school.

I ended up getting my own setup and taught myself how to engineer and record myself. I started off dropping music on SoundCloud for a while. Once I got more comfortable learning the business aspect of the industry I started dropping music on streaming platforms.

I ended up working with a producer named “The Virus and Antidote” which helped me get a good push in the underground and overseas. Also been working with my business partner at Elevate Records to help push the indie label

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road is never really smooth for too long. It’s been a lot of potholes, especially being in Baltimore because the music scene is always overlooked.

Trying to be an independent artist is always a struggle because it’s hard to get the resources you need to get yourself out there against the major mainstream artists.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a rapper and an Audio Engineer. I’m known by many for being a musician and my most popular project with The virus and Antidote “It Takes A Village”.

I think I’m most proud of my team and what we have done with so little. I think my determination and the fact I engineer and produce alot of my own work sets me apart from others

What do you like and dislike about the city?
One thing I really love about our city is that we can make something out of nothing.

It’s a lot of creatives in our city and they make opportunities for themselves instead of waiting. It’s not much I don’t like about the city really, except the lack of venues for a rap artists.

I think a lot more should be happening for our communities and the children in Baltimore so we can grow and not be looked down on for stuff that happens everywhere in the world.
