Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Travers.
Hi Kayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started my junior prom (2013). I was super excited about that night. I was even more excited about getting my makeup done. Little did I know that I would begin aspiring to become a makeup artist shortly after that. That type of enhancement I never had before and it was mind-blowing to me. That’s when I started practicing my craft. I practiced with my friends and myself. Eventually, it became a hobby and part-time work for me. I began purchasing makeup in more colors and shades. Then I realized I loved my part-time more than my full time. So it was time to put forth the effort in making my hobby my career.
In 2017, I began working as a makeup artist for a company. In 2019, I quit my job to begin working for myself, all while caring for my two kids. Venturing off on my own has been one of the best experiences I’ve had and I have never looked back. Since then, I have graduated from the school of aesthetics. I’ve also taken certification courses to add to my services. If I never took the leap of faith, I wouldn’t be where I am today, a success-driven entrepreneur. I love the enhancement of beauty!! It’s deeper than makeup for me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t always been smooth but definitely well worth it. My biggest struggle was maintaining my personal life and my business. It was also a challenge, in the beginning, gaining correct clientele. Today my clients are loyal and very supportive of any new services that I offer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my business, I specialize in enhancing beauty in numerous ways. My most known services are full makeup applications. I also offer full body waxing, teeth whitening services, and vaginal steams. I also offer classes extending my knowledge. My drive, confidence, and determination is what sets me apart from others; I really care about my clients well being. I’m most proud of my growth and how I impact my client’s confidence. When I look at my business and the person behind it, you know you are in great hands.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love it when it’s time to come together we come together as one and want our city to be great. My dislike is when I see great potential not being put to use in our city.
