Life & Work with Javon Hayman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javon Hayman.

Hi Javon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So I’m originally from San Antonio, Texas born and raised. I moved to Georgia when I was 17. I’ve been in the state of Georgia for almost seven years. I’ve always been an advocate of fashion and I’ve always been photogenic. I got into modeling for personal reasons. This relates to my being able to build my confidence up. When it came to art of any kind, I’ve never been afraid to express myself. To use those same qualities in my real life aside from the image, the looks, the modeling has been a goal for me from the jump. Modeling has been an avenue for me to learn new styles and to learn different ways to carry myself or showcase myself. It’s interesting.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been easy when it comes to modeling. Especially as a male. When it comes to modeling as a male for me the issues are that people often don’t take you serious. I don’t want to have to be androgynous in order to make a statement either. Knowing that fine line between art and just an image. There aren’t as much opportunities in the modeling world for men as I thought there would be if it’s not acting. So this has allowed me to do my own thing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from the modeling, my day-to-day life consists of HVAC. I am a HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Technician. I’ve been in this line of work for five years. It feels good to know things so technical in order to help people and or companies with simple day-to-day necessities. Heating and cooling. The fact that I can get my hands dirty, work long hours and then go model is rewarding and crazy at the same time.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being different. Focusing on my growth and my growth alone is important to me. I don’t ever want to be the same for a long period of time. I always want to strive to be different but to also change as well. Being firm is also important for me as well. In this industry, you’ll have a lot of people try to take advantage of you and that’s where you have to be strong-minded and firm with what you want in life and in whatever you do. Don’t say yes to everything just because you’re new at something.
