Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Jawish.
Hi Jade, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Dance has always been a part of my life; from childhood living room performances to the bright lights of NFL cheerleading and military tours. It’s a passion that has led me to minor in Dance during my college years and embrace the thrill of various dance teams. As life evolved, becoming a mother rekindled my desire to dance, inspiring me to create ‘Moms in Motion’—a venture that empowers women to find joy and connection through dance. The journey has been incredibly fulfilling, fostering connections and collaborations beyond my wildest dreams, and I cherish the opportunity to unite women in the celebration of movement and dance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Balancing work and life as a stay-at-home mom can be tough, but I’ve found that running my own business is empowering. It’s not just about carving out personal time for myself; it’s also about inspiring other moms to prioritize their well-being. Embracing self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential. It rejuvenates me, making me a more patient, present, and joyful mother.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I lead Moms in Motion, a dynamic cardio dance fitness class designed to empower women through movement and community. Each session is an hour long full-body engagement, culminating in a social outing, whether it’s dinner or drinks, fostering camaraderie and connection. I just launched, Kids in Motion – to now get more children involved in the love of dance! Without a fixed studio, I embrace the flexibility of ‘pop-up’ events across the DMV area, partnering with local, often women-led, small businesses. A recent highlight was orchestrating a health and wellness retreat, showcasing 50 local entrepreneurs, with an incredible 48 being women-owned ventures. It’s a testament to the power of women uplifting women.
How do you define success?
I would define success as how happy I feel with my accomplishments and the journey it took me to get there. For me, it’s less about the end result and more about the growth and experiences gained along the way.
