Today we’d like to introduce you to Candelaria Pérez García.
Hi Candelaria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nature Wall began many years ago, after I spent several years studying design before eventually pursuing photography. During that journey, I realized that photography could do much more than capture beautiful places. It could transform a space and change the way people feel inside it. I became fascinated with the idea of bringing the feeling of nature into everyday environments, allowing people to experience a sense of calm and connection even when they were indoors.
The biggest challenge wasn’t taking the photographs—it was learning everything that came afterward. I had to understand an entirely new industry, from printing techniques and paper selection to framing, mat boards, materials, production quality, pricing, and fulfillment. Research became a huge part of the process. Looking back, I think the hardest part was figuring out how this world worked, and then finding where my own work fit within it.
Nature Wall grew slowly, project by project. I never wanted to build something based on shortcuts or trends. I believed that consistency, honest work, and attention to detail would take me further than trying to grow as quickly as possible. Every piece taught me something, and every client helped shape the business.
Today, my creative journey has expanded into wedding photography. While the subject has changed, my approach hasn’t. Whether I’m photographing a landscape, creating artwork for someone’s home, or documenting a wedding day, I’m always looking for the same thing: authenticity. I’m drawn to natural light, genuine emotion, and quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Those values have stayed constant throughout my work, regardless of the medium.
When I look back, I don’t see Nature Wall and wedding photography as separate paths. They both come from the same motivation: creating images that help people feel something. Whether that’s bringing nature into a home or preserving one of the most meaningful days in someone’s life, my goal has always been to create photographs that feel timeless, honest, and deeply personal.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Like many independent artists and creative entrepreneurs, the road has been anything but predictable. Building a business around art is incredibly rewarding, but it’s rarely the most stable path. There are seasons of excitement and growth, and others that require patience, resilience, and a lot of faith in what you’re creating.
One of the biggest challenges has been immigration. Nature Wall began in Chile, where I’m from, and about two years ago I moved to the United States. Starting over in a new country meant learning an entirely different market. The people, the culture, pricing, suppliers, and even the way customers discover and buy art are all different. In many ways, I felt like I had to rebuild from the ground up.
Being an immigrant and an independent artist is certainly an interesting combination—it means you’re learning a new life and building a creative business at the same time. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s also made me more adaptable, more resourceful, and more appreciative of every opportunity that comes along.
Through it all, I’ve continued creating because I genuinely love it. Whether it’s fine art, interior pieces, or now wedding photography, my motivation has always been the same: to create work that helps people feel connected—to nature, to each other, or to meaningful moments in their lives. That passion has always been stronger than the uncertainty that sometimes comes with choosing a creative career.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I studied design before realizing that photography was the medium that felt most natural to me. I’ve always been interested in the relationship between people, nature, and the spaces we live in. That’s where Nature Wall came from. I wanted to create photographs that could bring a sense of nature indoors and change the way a space feels.
Today, alongside Nature Wall, I primarily photograph weddings in the United States. Later this year I’ll be moving from Baltimore to Chicago, where I’ll continue growing my photography business. Although the subject has changed over the years, the way I see the world hasn’t.
I don’t think I became observant because I became a photographer. I became a photographer because I’ve always been observant.
Observing has always been my way of creating. I naturally notice light, colors, shapes, textures, and the connections between people and the world around them. Even before I owned a camera, I was already composing images in my mind. Photography simply became the language that allowed me to share the way I see the world.
I think that’s what defines my work more than anything else. I’m deeply curious about people, places, and the connections they create. Whether I’m photographing a landscape or a wedding, I don’t try to invent a story—I believe every place and every person already has one. My role is to notice it, understand it, and translate it into an image.
That’s also what connects everything I do. Nature Wall was born from the idea of helping people feel closer to nature through photography. Wedding photography comes from the same place. They’re different subjects, but the same intention. I’m always looking for connection—between people, between people and nature, or between someone and a memory they’ll carry for years.
What I’m most proud of it’s that I’ve continued growing as an artist without losing the reason I started. My work has evolved, but my curiosity hasn’t. I believe beauty isn’t something you create—it’s something you learn to notice. If my photographs help someone notice it, even for a moment, then I’ve done my job.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things I’ve loved most about Baltimore is the feeling that people are free to be themselves. I’ve always felt that Baltimore gives people the freedom to express who they are without trying to fit into someone else’s expectations. There’s something incredibly welcoming about that.
As someone who moved here from another country, that meant a lot to me. The people have been kind, open, and supportive, and I found a real sense of community here. It’s also a very pet-friendly city with beautiful parks and green spaces, which made everyday life even more enjoyable. Nature has always been a big part of my life, so that’s something I’ve valued from the beginning.
If I had to choose one thing I’d change, it would probably be the public transportation. I come from a place where it’s easier to get around without a car, so that adjustment took some time. But every city has its challenges, and for me, what Baltimore has given me has always outweighed those inconveniences.
