Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Murray; host and creator of Lez Black Gurls.
Hi, Bri Murray; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Baltimore in June of 2021. As a social person, I was looking for things to do to help me meet more lesbians, specifically black lesbians. I went to DC a lot for events, so this past year, I thought about hosting events for women in Baltimore. The first event drew the interest of 60+ women, and everyone said the same thing: We need this here in Baltimore. So Lez Black Gurls is here to stay 🙂
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been some struggles with show rates. People can RSVP or buy tickets, but that doesn’t mean they will attend the event. Also, not everything will go as planned for events, so I learned to roll with it all.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lez Black Gurls is focused on creating safe, fun spaces for black lesbians in and around Baltimore. We want to bring different experiences to the community, such as hiking, game nights, happy hour meet-ups, and speed dating, with a twist. We are most proud of the variety of events we are hosting and the increase in our social media presence.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Can you share something that might surprise us?
The host is not originally from Baltimore and is a clinical pharmacist by day. I love meeting new people and am good at planning things.
