Life & Work with Billy Lyve

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Lyve.

Hi Billy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a street team member at Club Sonar handing out flyers & posting posters for upcoming events. This led me into hosting my first successful event at the club, which then allowed me to open & work with countless artists touring the Baltimore City Market. We were doing shows 2-3 nights a week trying to earn our name within the Baltimore Music Scene. While doing those events, I realized a lot of my supporters were unable to attend due to the fact we had children. We decided to put together our very own youth group called the ’Wisdom Court Kids Club.’ We would host different kid-friendly events to keep our community together & engaged with each other. The first community event I hosted was the Easter Egg Hunt in 2008, which has now become an annual event for our company. The first event only had 9 people in attendance. We are now actively bringing out about 400+ Community members annually. The Easter Egg Hunt is just one of the community events we host annually. We also host Youth Dances & Concerts, as well as community outreach programs, and our very own Youth Group we host weekly at ‘Together We Own It’, called, ‘Real Talk w/ Billy Lyve.’ The Wisdom Court Kids Club has now turned into our Non-Profit Organization which is called ‘Find Your Purpose.’ “Find Your Purpose” aspires to elevate and empower individuals of all ages through mentorship, experimental learning, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest obstacles was getting people to believe in what I was trying to do. With me not being from a major city, sometimes, chasing this kind of dream seems far-fetched. Finding the appropriate funding to launch these types of programs and ventures has been very difficult.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a

-Touring Artist

-A booking agent

-Promoter

-Entrepreneur

-Youth mentor

-Community Event Organizer

I’m known in my area to wear multiple hats and, have won countless awards for my work in the music scene and the community.

My greatest accomplishment aside from being a father was to follow my passion in working with the community and turning that into the, ‘Find Your Purpose’ NPO.

I’m most set apart from others by my ability to relate to multiple walks of life.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Find a mentor & put yourself around people who are more knowledgeable than yourself.

I wish I would have known the importance of having a mentor early on, and placed myself around those people who were more knowledgeable than me.
