Life & Work with Alessandra Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessandra Flores.

Alessandra Flores

Hi Alessandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello, my name is Alessandra Flores, but many know me as Sunny and I am a Youth Health and Wellness Specialist. My journey began working at my Step Fathers Daycare where I developed the profound meaning of serving my community. After I graduated college, I accepted a position working at an Elementary School in Montgomery County (MCPS) as well as serving as the After school Director at another MCPS location where I continued my passion for helping students and spent many hours implementing and coordinating community and school events. A few years and titles later, the pandemic hit and like many probably found themselves reevaluating what would be next when life returned to “normal.” I received my 200 HR Yoga certification and discovered a new meaning of self-love, confidence, and became more aware of my feelings. Shortly after I established Sol Realm Yoga a health and wellness LLC that provides services in yoga (pre/postnatal, trauma, recovery/strength), personal training, and holistic health for all ages.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road haha? Like many small business owners you hit a few rough patches, questioning whether or not you are doing things right and if you should continue. One of the many traits my mother instilled in me is perseverance, so the thought of giving up wasn’t an option once I started. You learn to become adaptable and you try to be prepared for anything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a dynamic group that offer a wide range of services to all ages. I have an amazing team that truly enjoys and loves what they do. I have an holistic health coach, yoga instructors, Reiki Master and chakra teacher, and personal trainers ready to help anyone that inquire about services.

What I’m most proud of is the team I am building and the common goals we all have. I am very selective with who I hire and it has nothing to do with qualifications or experience, but a persons genuine nature to give back to their community and help those become the best version of themselves. I believe what sets us apart from other agencies/businesses is that we have fun, we provide a family feel atmosphere, and our understanding for wanting change. As a minority women owned business I hope to inspire others to lead with their heart and pursue what others may deem impossible.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Hmmm, I love lemons haha!
