Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shannon Stevens of Baltimore city

We recently had the chance to connect with Shannon Stevens and have shared our conversation below.

Shannon , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
At this moment I am learning so much from my kids. I say this because they are helping to mold me into a totally new versionof myself , they have help me recognize my strengths and my weaknesses. In there own little way they are making me check myself. It’s a amazing and frustrating transition right now for sure.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name is Shannon Stevens but most people know me as Queen Halo. The mother, the poet, the hair doctor, the creator the list can go on and on. A young woman from the west side of Baltimore. A survivor, a fighter, a women that knows her value. I have been interviewed before so some may already know that I love to do hair, cook, poetry, and music. Since that last interview I have added a new hobby to the list Queenhalo_advertising, yes I took my love for creating and traveling and combined them both into fun post on all my social platforms.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Growing up Shannon was a quiet reserved little person, who barely talked. A observer that rolled with the punches and never questioned anything wrong or right. Growing out of my quiet shell and going through major events in life helped me to see that quietness wasn’t a choice but more of something I was assigned to do. When we do to much talking we miss our purpose and the lessons God is trying to teach. So watching others help mold me as well those years of sitting silent and taken in all I could, gave me strength. So now at 37 years old the world is in my hands for I know the order and purpose for every trial and error I have encountered.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to see the good even in the most messed up situations. Most of the time my sufferings came into play from others and their situations. Sometimes love can hurt, and mental and physical abuse is real. We search for love and validation from others that it can be so easy to lose ourselves. My form of suffering in the past and now is deeper than relationships with others and spreading love, my love for others whose path wasn’t aligned with mines brought on a life living with anxiety and depression. For me this is a blessing and a curse one day outweighs the next. Honestly though if I didn’t suffer from those two things I would have never been successful in finding my purpose, my hobbies that help bring a whole new world to me.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
When things didn’t go the way I saw fit for me, I always would say the devil is so busy. We all use this simple yet powerful quote. Lately I’ve been listening to my inner voice and just maybe these battles and shift changing moments can be test for good and not bad. I had to strip away from my one way of thinking. I try my best to have faith that what I’ve been through and currently going through, is all for my greater good.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I want to leave for the next, is that even when you face so much continue to fight. It’s so many times I wanted to throw in the towel. Instead of surrendering to my down times in life I faught through every battled and created my own heaven on earth. I’m doing what I love to do Queenhalo_advertising,Stylesbyfaith21, Avacakecups. HALOCOOKS21, To help cope with my different world all these beautiful hobbies and platforms was created. So no matter what you go through keep going, no matter who doesn’t support keep striving. Our weaknesses are our greatest blessings.
