We recently had the chance to connect with JESSICA SALIS HOWE and have shared our conversation below.
Hi JESSICA, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred—a personal ritual that always begins with meditation. Over time, I’ve come to truly cherish this quiet start. It’s not just a habit; it’s my way of setting the tone. I greet the morning with what I call my Grand Rising intentions, creating space to connect with what matters most.
In stillness, without music or distractions, I sit and welcome the creative and meaningful pieces of my day…whether they fall under art, family, or home. I don’t just look forward to finishing these things; I genuinely enjoy doing them. The process itself is where the real joy lives.
I’ve come to believe that in the act of doing—painting a wall, making breakfast, planning something special—is where creativity, growth, and little sparks of insight live. The end result? That’s just the souvenir…a lovely reminder of the experience that got me there.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Salisography is a Maryland-based studio blending graphic and interior design, fine art photography, and print services into one thoughtfully curated creative practice. Rooted in a deep appreciation for aesthetics and storytelling, I collaborate with entrepreneurs, families, and visionaries to craft visual identities that are not only beautiful but deeply aligned with purpose. From logos and print collateral to immersive digital spaces, every element is designed to flow together—cohesively, intentionally, and with clarity.
My approach mirrors the harmony of a well-designed interior—each piece connected, each detail considered. Whether you’re launching a new business, refining your brand, or capturing a meaningful moment in time, I guide the process with care and creative insight. The experience is personal, collaborative, and immersive—from initial concept to final proof.
Photography plays an essential role in my work, offering honest, elegant imagery that reflects the heart of your story—whether that’s a growing business or a growing family. Because when something truly matters, it deserves to be seen, felt, and remembered.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I truly believe my parents saw me—the real me—long before I had the words or awareness to see myself clearly. They seemed to instinctively recognize the qualities that made me who I am, even when those parts were still just beginning to take shape. As a child, I remember how they gently nurtured my early love for art—encouraging me to draw, paint, and express what I saw in the world exactly as I saw it. They never tried to steer me toward someone else’s vision, but instead created space for mine to unfold naturally.
Beyond my creative side, they also noticed and honored my deep sensitivity and empathy. Traits that are sometimes overlooked or misunderstood, especially in childhood. They encouraged me to speak openly, to share what I felt, and they truly listened. There was never a moment where I felt like I had to hide who I was or apologize for feeling things deeply. Their unconditional support wasn’t just present in moments of joy or achievement, it was there through every stage, challenge, and turning point.
Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given these parents in this lifetime. They didn’t just raise me, they shaped me. Their guidance and presence helped form the foundation of who I am today, from the inside out. Their love has been a mirror, a compass, and a soft landing, and I carry that with me every single day.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Not in the area of my passion, no. My art has always been a safe space, and inspiration for me. A calibrating and enjoyable part of my world. Creating for myself, for others… it didn’t matter for whom or for what– art has always been my medicine!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family. Judaism. They’re synonyms in many ways<3
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I don’t know if it will be a misunderstanding about my legacy, but maybe my candor. That when I speak from the heart, it is always from a place of pure honesty, love and to protect.
