We’re looking forward to introducing you to David Hercenberg. Check out our conversation below.
David, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up the kiddos, make some coffee, eat some eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast and pending if there is a shoot scheduled film, edit, gym, bike, run some errands, dinner, dessert and bedtime,
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
David Hercenberg — Photographer & Videographer
I capture life’s moments and turn them into lasting legacies. From joyful birthdays, baptisms, and baby namings to solemn graveside farewells—and everything in between—I create family heirlooms that will be cherished for generations.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was out in the ocean, surfing. I can still feel the rush of riding a big wave all the way to shore—the spray on my face, the board gliding under my feet. In that moment, I realized something that’s stuck with me ever since: you don’t always have to work harder; sometimes, you just have to work smarter… and ride the wave.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
With all the competition, new technology, and constant waves of innovation, it’s easy to get caught up comparing yourself to others. I’ll admit—there have been moments when I felt like throwing in the towel. But I’ve been working on shifting my perspective, focusing instead on comparing myself to who I was yesterday, last year, or even a decade ago. Every challenge and every experience has something to teach me, helping me grow wiser, more creative, and more committed to doing what I love.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Reality is what you make of it. Whether I’m behind closed doors or out in public, I strive to show up as my most authentic self—speaking the truth, capturing the truth, and seeking beauty wherever it can be found.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had ten years left to live, I wouldn’t change a thing. I already live with the belief that all I have is now, so I try to make the most of every day, every moment, as if it were my last.
