Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Bintou Kah of Rosedale

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bintou Kah. Check out our conversation below.

Bintou, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
A recent moment that I’ve had that made me feel proud was starting my second business. I came out with a cosmetic/lip line named Beautyy By B Cosmetics.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Bintou Kah, the owner of Beautyy By B & Beautyy By B Cosmetics where beauty meets confidence. I specialize in doing lash extensions, teaching lash classes and also offer a curated line of high-quality cosmetics products. My mission is to help clients look and feel their best whether it’s through flawless lashes or products that enhance their natural beauty.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Something that I believed about myself as a child that I no longer believe in is that I had to go to college or work for somebody else to be successful. Now I believe that I’m creating my own success on my own terms. I’m worthy as I am, an authenticity is more powerful than perfection!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It taught me to be resilience. Suffering teaches you how to get back up when life knocks you down. It also teaches that it’s okay to have a loss, it’s the way you handle that loss to determine how life will go. Success may reward your efforts, but suffering builds the grit that keeps you moving when there’s no applause.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that “you need to look a certain way to be desirable, beautiful or even worthy” Beauty is diverse, how you feel in your skin matters more than how others see you!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m doing lashes. I love feeling of my client being relaxed in the chair, the room & music being calm, and I’m fully in flow focusing on each lash, one by one. In that moment, time slows down. It’s just me, my hands, and the art of enhancing someone’s natural beauty.
