Jada McDowell of Owings Mills on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Jada McDowell and have shared our conversation below.

Jada , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing elevation — in every lane. In my creativity, I’m chasing moments that express my vision — whether behind the chair, in front of the camera, or on set. And in my heart, I’m chasing peace, fulfillment, and the version of me that doesn’t settle for average. If i stopped, I would get restless because I’m not built for “just getting by.” I’d start feeling like something’s missing, because motion is my medicine.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Jada McDowell — a multi-talented creative, beauty professional, and visionary behind Showtime Hair Studio, where luxury meets authenticity. Jada has built her brand around the belief that hair care is more than appearance — it’s self-expression, confidence, and self-care in motion. Known for her meticulous eye for detail and her signature touch that blends creativity with wellness, she takes pride in offering every client an elevated experience that feels personal, empowering, and unforgettable.
Beyond the chair, Jada is expanding her artistry into acting and modeling, using both as outlets to tell stories, embody emotion, and inspire confidence through every role and image. She’s also pursuing her education in early childhood education, showing that her passion for growth extends beyond beauty and entertainment — it’s rooted in empowering others to reach their full potential.
Right now, Jada is working on new creative projects — from bold color transformations and editorial shoots to acting opportunities that showcase her range and authenticity — all while continuing to grow Showtime Hair Studio into a brand that embodies excellence, empowerment, and style.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I was raised by two hard-working parents who taught me the true meaning of dedication. My mom owned a café called Heavenly Delight, and I grew up watching her pour love, care, and long hours into everything she created. My dad was right there beside her — supporting, helping, and showing me that teamwork and persistence build more than just a business; they build character.
Their example taught me to chase my dreams with passion, to never be afraid of hard work, and to always put heart into everything I do.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There are moments when I feel like giving up, but every time I reach that point, God reminds me just how good life can get when I keep going.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would tell you that family means everything to me. No matter what I’m chasing or building, my heart always comes back to the people who raised me, supported me, and reminded me where I come from. Family is my foundation — the reason I work hard and the source of my strength.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I don’t think I get enough recognition for what I do now — so at this point, the praise doesn’t even matter.
