We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jack Quinn. Check out our conversation below.
Jack, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
I worked at an organic farm for a few years. I met a forest firefighter who told me a rule for using a chainsaw on trees. It’s also great life advice. “Slow is smooth, and smoothe is fast”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Our band is Feather+Flask. We are a four piece group from Maryland. We strive for intimate song writing and soulful jams. We call our music Folk Groove.
We believe community is one of the most important things in our time here. Because of this we host an open mic in Havre De Grace at market Street brewery. Every 2nd and 4th Thursday we gather at 6:30pm to jam out together and showcase local talent. Every open mic has a theme too! Join our Facebook group “Feather and flask and friends” for updates on gigs and open mics!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Seeing live music for the first time. Realizing that there is a deep medium for self expression and realizing that it can help others.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Suffering and heartbreak…they can open you up or destroy you. Suffering made me love more deeply. I realize love and having love as an abundance model is the right way to go. Loving everyone is deeply as you can with equanimity. Attachment leads to suffering but also leads to growth if you hold Love in your heart. Real love
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Seeing everybody with the eyes of love. Letting go of self-righteousness. Living deeply and feeling everything.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m playing music with my best friends.
