Inspiring Conversations with Shawn Crosby of Century 21 Don Gurney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Crosby.

Hi Shawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story starts off back in 2012. I used to work for a underground utility company ( subsurface engineering ).

While I was working on the side of the road taking a measurement off of the edge of the road I was struck by a car and I ended up in shock trauma then kernans hospital.

The accident left my right arm partially paralyzed from a brachial plexus injury. I used to be a guitar player, a fisherman, video game player, and alot of other hobbies that require two hands to do.

It went many years where I looked for new hobbies. I always watched content creators on YouTube and other platforms.

I was always interested in graphic design so I came up with a name called NEEM and made a few designs which can be found at neemclothing.com or shawncrosby.com. I needed a way to promote it so I started to make videos and create content. Once I started creating content I found out that I really enjoyed coming up with skits and making people laugh which turned into a new hobby.

I came up with the “write that down” videos from back when I was in the hospital from the car accident. I had a big surgery on my right arm to repair the nerves that were damaged at university of Maryland. The doctors would always say hold on let me write that down.

I made my first write that down video about 5 years ago and it got many views but it didn’t click with me to keep creating videos similar in style I continued to make skits. It wasn’t until a couple years later that I started making all write that down videos because everyone seemed to really enjoy them.

It has been about 6 years since I have started making videos I have made a couple thousand videos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having a partially paralyzed right arm has always made everything more challenging.

I am also a REALTOR with century 21 Don Gurney. My right arm was my dominant arm so I had to learn to write with my left which makes it more challenging when I am doing paperwork.

My right arm makes it more challenging creating content because I don’t have two hand to hold the camera and use the other hand for expression.

Other obstacles of making videos was there was a learning curb where I had to teach my self to edit videos, finding correct lighting, using green screen, and much more.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Century 21 Don Gurney / Shawn Crosby on all platforms / neemclothing.com

I am a Real estate agent with Century 21 Don Gurney in Pasadena serving all of Maryland.

What sets apart Century 21 Don Gurney from other agencies is there are many agents with years of experience in my office.

What sets me apart is years if experience with content creation and a fresh understanding of the real estate market. Not only would I get your house sold It will always be an enjoyable experience. I can be reached at shawncrosby123@gmail.com

I also have a street wear brand called Neem clothing. The designs were supposed to look like a band T shirt something similar to what you would find in the store hot topic.

Sometimes a person would walk into a place that sells band shirts and a person would like the design but wouldnt like the band. The concept is NEEM is the band but it actually isn’t a band it is a tree ( the miracle tree ).

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I use videoleap, Capcut, Adobe premier or after effects although I am not very good at using adobe video editing products.

There are many Real estate podcasts on YouTube that have helped me learn different ways of marketing my self.
