Inspiring Conversations with Nicole Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Turner.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to today.

I’m Nicole L. Turner, a consultant, author, speaker, podcaster, and mindset and small business coach. I’m originally from Mississippi. When I was a kid in elementary school, I used to get in trouble because when I finished my schoolwork, I would walk around the classroom helping other students with their work. I believed if I knew the answers, I should help them know the answers too. I’ve always had a heart for helping others. That same way of being exists today.

For many years, I coached (and still coach) individuals and helped them recognize and develop a strategy to address and eliminate the mental and emotional toxins that had them in a holding pattern. I observed that some of those same people were in organizations, and their issues manifested themselves as toxic employees and toxic leaders. This led me to taking a deeper dive into organizational behavior and culture. I found that people-centered culture is the nucleus of productivity, excellent customer service, retention, employee engagement, morale, and overall organizational health.

My desire for helping individuals and creating environments where individual wellbeing is a priority is how I got here. It’s embedded in everything I do, from the books I write to my podcast, the work I do with organizations, and in even in my speeches.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

The journey has definitely had its ebbs and flows. What has been super important for me is to not allow myself to become consumed with the obstacles when they show up. I’m naturally an optimistic person, so I use the obstacles as “teachable moments” and ask the question, what am I to learn from this or what should I do differently moving forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I am a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur. I own a boutique management consulting firm that specializes in creating people-centered workplace culture and detoxing toxic work environments. I’m a mindset coach, I help people shift the way they think, so they can change the way they live. In addition to mindset coaching, I’m a business coach. In this role, I advise small business owners on developing short-term and long-term business strategies. I’m an author of several books. I am a keynote speaker, and I’m also a podcaster.

What sets me apart is that I meet people (and organizations) where they are – I don’t have a one-size-fits-all solution. Watching people (and organizations) soar and experience transformation feeds my soul. Growing up in Mississippi, southern hospitality was a way of life; therefore, southern hospitality is what I give to my clients.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?

The diversity, opportunities, culture, and the variety of things to do are what I like most about the Washington/Baltimore area. What I like the least is that it can be very pretentious, cliquish, and competitive.
