Inspiring Conversations with Monica Green of Socially CHIC Events by Monica Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Green.

Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been a social butterfly. Growing up, we celebrated everything no matter how big or small the accomplishment. My mother loves to entertain which is where I developed my love for social entertainment. As a teen, I would organize and plan my friend’s birthday parties. Later carried on into college where I also began coordinating events on campus with other creatives.

Professionally, I have worked in the event management field for over a decade. This has allowed me to work in all areas of events from sales, logistics, event design, and day of management. After successfully planning my wedding 13 years ago, my confidence was there to share my skills as a service to the public. Socially Chic Events officially launched in 2014. Since then, we have planned and decorated weddings, birthday parties, small business events, baby and bridal showers, and so many more events.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the beginning of launching my own business, I had no idea how much work was cut out for me to get everything off the ground. It’s a trial-and-error experience. In my line of work event planners are usually planning celebratory events. A time for happiness. But although your event is for a happy time, happiness in my life may not be aligning. But as a professional, I have learned how to see it through even when times get rough. In 2 years, I coordinated 6 weddings while going through my divorce.

For 2 years, I had to smile and show up for my clients on the happiest day of their lives while my marriage was going through the ugly process of being dissolved. Finding my niche, preferred clients, and my tribe in the event industry has been a journey. I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road, there have been several potholes and when covid happened that made me make a huge detour in my business plans. Now that covid has come to an end and it is safer to host events, business has been increasing and our team is expanding.

We’ve been impressed with Socially CHIC Events by Monica Renee, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mother, sister, and girlfriends from high school make up Team Socially Chic. Without them, I couldn’t pull off the events we produce. We all work well together and each has an area of expertise. From negotiation, being crafty, logistically savvy, creative design, and budget management we balance one another and pull our talents together to deliver a CHIC Experience every time.
