Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Butler.
Hi Leslie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I believe I started on this journey as a little girl helping my grandmother’s in-home Nurse care for her. I knew then I wanted to “take care” of people. After high school, I was accepted into an accelerated Nursing program where it confirmed my passion. When life overwhelmed me, I walked away without my degree which led to a very deep depression. I stayed in that state for many months feeling like a complete failure until one random day. A friend of mine driving by saw my car and decided to stop in and say hi because we were close in high school. When she saw me down and out, she said “Les, get up! I am a manager and I’m going to get you a job!” That was the push I needed to get out of my stupor and take back my life. I worked with her for a few months before I was introduced to a Network Marketing company that changed my life forever. Network Marketing lit the fire of entrepreneurship on the inside of me. Not only did I find a great business model to be a part of, I also found family. It was this group of people that lead me back to Christ. Shortly after joining, I got baptized and reconnected with a local ministry. At this point, I found a great Nursing Assistant position in private practice while I was growing my own business. I loved my work but I desired to make more income. My search led me to Massage Therapy School. I knew instantly this was where I was supposed to be. You mean to tell me I can use my Nursing training AND entrepreneurship skills; this was a match made in Heaven! Now I’m working in the Doctor’s Office full time, in Massage Therapy School, and doing Network Marketing on evenings and weekends. I literally worked myself into the hospital and ended up bedridden for an entire month. It was at this moment I prayed for God to heal me. Then I promised Him if I made it out of the bed, I would never chase money again. I decided to leave my job to start my own Wellness Center in Catonsville. Ministry became the priority, showing people by example how to have abundance without completely depleting yourself. In His Hands Wellness has become a brand that encourages Spirit, Soul, Body wellness. I know first-hand what it is like to be at your lowest point, but now I get to create experiences for others that launch them into their greatness. As a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Life Coach, I get to support successful entrepreneurs by sharing the tools and resources I’ve learned in almost 10 years of business that moves them from depleted to DOMINATING!!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh no, entrepreneurship has not always been a smooth road. I learned very quickly that I needed more than my determination to succeed to remain a thriving business owner. You must have thick skin and crazy faith! Sometimes as the visionary, you have big dreams and little resources. I remember times when our bank account was negative but payroll was due. I remember doing mobile massage from sun up to sun down hoping to get a physical location because my body was exhausted. There were times when we had an event and only one or two people showed up. Disappointment and frustration are normal phases of starting a business, however, if you know you are purposed for something know that it will come together beautifully in the perfect timing.
We’ve been impressed with In His Hands Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This has been a year of total re-branding! My vision is to commemorate all that we have accomplished and celebrate all that is new. I am excited to share that in 2022 I will launch LeslieButler.co, the culmination of my wellness practice, coaching programs, and my ministry work. I am extremely passionate about helping women move from depletion to dominating in their purpose. I believe this is accomplished by being well spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Starting with spiritual wellbeing, I offer meditation resources that results in re-connecting with our Creator, the source of our being. Emotional wellbeing is the next focus, healing from emotional trauma and releasing stagnant emotions. The final piece to the puzzle is re-energizing the body to achieve physical wellbeing. I am most proud of the countless lives we have touched through our wellness services and events over the last 9 years!
