Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Landing.
Karina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Today I describe myself as a 25+ year Strategic Healthcare Nurse leader. I am also a board certified nurse informaticist and digital health clinical advisor turned Wellness Strategist, Functional Medicine Health and Life Coach, and Transformative Habit Change Master, I am the founder of The Eu Zen Landing, and creator of the “REFRAME IT” model, a transformational coaching program that uses functional medicine principles.
I started 25 + years ago as a Registered Nurse trained in Vancouver, BC, Canada and after a decade moved to the United States. My experiences span Clinical nursing (NICU, PICU, PEDs, L&D), nursing administration and clinical operations in both the acute and ambulatory arenas. Half way through my career, I switched over into healthcare and clinical transformation consulting within Health IT, and branched into the field of digital experience, innovation, strategy and design; and now Functional Medicine and Executive Wellness Nurse Coaching.
Trainings:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Masters of Science in Nursing, specialty Clinical Systems Management
Advanced Practice: Nurse Informatics
Institute for Functional Medicine / INCA (Integrative Nurse Coach Academy) – Functional Medicine Nurse training and certification
Health Coach Institute – Health and Life Coach Certification
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has been a fairly straight trajectory and climb from when I first became a licensed Registered Nurse. All the right promotions and opportunities were falling into place for me that aligned with my ambitions and the industry trends. I was evolving and adapting to stay relevant and valuable to current employers.
It wasn’t until I hit midlife, that I started to question my purpose. After 25 years in healthcare, I was frustrated with the continuous reactionary culture of our current healthcare system and the enormous reliance on prescription medications to manage the prevalence of chronic conditions and many other symptom-based conditions. In addition, my own mid-career crisis of feeling unfulfilled, non- impactful and uninspired in my life sparked my decision to follow my passion for preventative health and wellness and to figure out a way to leverage my lived experiences with my professional education and acquired work experiences.
My passion is preventative health, developing authentic connections with herself and others, and tapping into one’s personal power. I value being impactful, motivational and influential, and my ambition is to inspire and encourage others to unlock and trust their inner wisdom while converting fears into action, and their inaction into results. Success is not always measured by what you have accomplished as many people are highly accomplished in their craft. Success, if meaningful, is when you are able to fulfil a passion or dream of yours and truly experience the feeling of fulfillment that is at times missing in our careers / life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Eu Zen Landing?
After my midlife reflection, I realized I wanted to follow my passion for my “last mile”: discovering an integrated way to achieve a state of well-being and high performance and sharing this with other midlifers. I immersed myself in trainings and added Functional Medicine and Health and Life Coach certifications to my portfolio.
I focus on helping executives master their metabolism, hormones, and performance at midlife because after more than two decades in healthcare, I kept seeing the same troubling pattern…Brilliant executives and high-performing professionals looking unstoppable on the outside — yet inside, their bodies were quietly burning out, feeling depleted and stuck.
They were battling mid-afternoon energy crashes, brain fog, unexplained weight shifts, gut issues and hormonal fluctuations
that were the result of metabolic, hormonal, and digestive imbalances that silently erode performance, focus, and resilience.
Now I focus on using a foundation of functional medicine with my Executive Wellness Coaching programs to help them uncover the root causes of fatigue, hormonal chaos, and metabolic slowdowns — then create personalized, science-backed wellness strategies that rebuild energy, clarity, and leadership stamina. This allows them to become invigorated, regain control of their health and life and fulfill their highest potential in every role they play.
My signature 120-day Functional Wellness Strategy Program is designed to restore balance in hormones, gut health, and mental well-being, ensuring a holistic transformation. It includes a comprehensive functional wellness assessment, a review and analysis of findings (including functional lab insights if applicable), a personalized wellness plan, and 12 one-on-one coaching sessions tailored to implement sustainable lifestyle changes and transformative habit changes.
What sets me apart and why I’m the right person to do this lies in my background. My journey spans three worlds:
1.The nurse life → science, patient care, and functional medicine training
2.The corporate life → high-pressure deadlines, leadership demands, and burnout
3.The midlife life → personally navigating hormonal changes, metabolic shifts, and the resilience it takes to be at the top of your game and thrive in this season.
This blend of clinical expertise, executive insight, and lived experience uniquely positions me to help high-performing women leaders in midlife who are:
– Battling energy crashes and brain fog during crucial decision-making moments
– Struggling with weight changes, gut issues, memory lapses and sleepless nights despite “doing everything right”
– Feeling out of control of their own health during a pivotal career phase
My approach is rooted in functional medicine which means that I’m going beyond symptom management to uncover the root causes of imbalances, connecting hormones, metabolism, gut health, stress, and sleep into a personalized strategy.
Beyond coaching, I’ve branched out to conduct Functional Medicine inspired workshops (functional medicine education against specific health concerns / topics) at local wellness venues, and am in the process of launching my inaugural Experiential Wellness retreat focused on reframing the menopausal transition as one of celebration and empowerment vs negativity, dread, or ‘end of an era’.
I’m deeply passionate about creating a community where high-performing women reframe midlife as a season of vitality and clarity, not only to transform their own trajectory but to also inspire others to embrace this powerful transition with pride, not fear, shame or embarassment. That’s why I also co-founded MENOVA — a retreat and movement dedicated to celebrating menopause and midlife as a bold new chapter of strength, resilience, and leadership.
MENOVA is a brand that I’m hoping to extend into what I call “The MENOVA Collective”, a virtual membership based community to increase access to an integrated science, soul and strategy care model for those looking for a new 360 approach to midlife wellness.
Finally, I also partner with a wellness company (Juice Plus) whose mission aligns with mine — to make holistic, evidence-based nutrition simple and accessible. Through this collaboration, I share a select range of plant-based nutrition, superfood blends and pre/probiotic drink mixes that support gut health, energy, and overall vitality.
These are products I personally use and trust, chosen for their integrity, formulation quality, and science-backed results — not just a label. My goal isn’t to sell; it’s to empower my clients with tools that genuinely support their body’s balance from the inside out.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory involves spending time with my family along the beaches of Lima, Peru in South America. I was born to Chinese immigrant parents living in Lima, Peru before immigrating to Canada where I grew up until I moved to the United States in my early 30’s. Those days felt carefree, joyful and calm.
