Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Turner.
Hi Jeanine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I feel I began my journey in interior design when I was 10 years old. After the family would go to sleep, my sister and I would transform our room by rearranging all the furniture. This experience helped me develop a keen sense of spatial awareness at an early age. Growing up in Chicago, I studied interior design and real estate before moving to Los Angeles in my 20s, where I worked as a Realtor in Malibu. My exposure to the contemporary luxury homes in Malibu shaped my personal design preferences and deepened my love for interior design. I relocated to Baltimore from Los Angeles 27 years ago and began collaborating with my husband, real estate developer Patrick Turner. Alongside my career in interior design, I co-owned an art gallery, Unexpected Art, in Mount Royal with Jeffery Kent. My involvement with the gallery allowed me to showcase my own art and become acquainted with local artists. Working with and learning from established artists has been a valuable experience, enhancing my ability to bring depth and give attention to details when designing interior environments.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Both of my parents died when I was 7 years old. My 17-year older sister raised me. I will never forget the feeling of suddenly feeling I had to be responsible for myself. I became aware of my place in the world, which quickly forced me to figure out how I wanted to be identified. I was not going to be someone to feel sorry for. I was going to be someone you could rely on. I let my sister know I would be there to help around the house and not be a burden on her newlywed lifestyle. This experience taught me not to take anything for granted and to appreciate every moment. When you focus on the present, you can truly listen to the people around you. These early experiences developed into skills — skills that shape my current business ethics: honesty, reliability, transparency, and taking the time to truly listen to clients’ desires.

Our first industry recognition was awarded by the National Association of Home Builders in 2009 for a Silo Point model home. In 2022-23, one of our kitchen renovations won the highest honor from the International Property Awards in London: World’s Best Kitchen Design. To win that award, we first won Best in Maryland, then Best in the USA, and then Best in the Americas, before ultimately receiving the Best International Kitchen Design Award.

I have a vast group of friends, relatives, professional associates, critics, and clients who consistently complement my business ethics and creative designs.
