Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaliyla Tillman. she and her team shared their story with us below:
Jaliyla Tillman is the woman behind I Just Want 2 Be Healthy, a company that promotes a holistic approach to fitness and a healthy lifestyle with a gym facility located in Washington, DC called Mission Slim-Possible Gym which opened in June 2022. She offers virtual and in-person cardio, strengthening, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) programs, and custom meal plans, and believes small, achievable, and consistent changes have a huge impact on a person’s health and fitness. Jaliyla helps her clients become the best versions of themselves (mentally and physically) by pushing them to make the right daily choices to create sustainable results. She started I Just Want 2 Be Healthy knowing most women won’t be an Instagram model or gym buff. Social media idealizes one specific body type, but there are so many beautiful bodies to celebrate. Each person is unique, and Jaliyla strives to help every client love themselves by helping them on their health journey.
Born and raised in the DMV area, Jaliyla is an alumna of Hampton University. She became a National Academy of Sports and Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer in June 2020 and is also a TRX-certified personal trainer. Fitness has struggles, so she knows when to push when to cheer when to lend an ear, and when to guide. She has been active her entire life but became passionate about fitness after gaining 40 pounds, watching family members struggle with diabetes, and realizing she was not happy in her skin. By sticking with and trying out all kinds of fitness classes and ideologies, she has learned to love her body, is the healthiest she has ever been and loves helping others embrace their body & become the best version of themselves for the years to come.
Jaliyla Tillman, the founder of I Just Want 2 Be Healthy, developed the eight-week weight loss program called Mission Slim-Possible to promote holistic well-being among women. Modern women are busy! With or without kids, they’re taking on the world and creating a unique place for themselves and each other. They so often forget to take care of themselves or put it on the back burner. Jaliyla created Mission Slim-Possible for women who want to work on their self-care and become the best versions of themselves. The program doesn’t focus on being the next Instagram model. It focuses on boosting self-confidence, creating healthy changes in our everyday lives, increasing strength, and looking amazingly naked.
By focusing on what is achievable and sustainable, Mission Slim-Possible makes it possible for every woman to incorporate it into their life. The program creates a safe and judgment-free zone for women to focus on their fitness and health journeys, build relationships, have fun, and develop healthy habits. Three weekly workouts, on-demand training resources, and 24/7 community access and support make this program perfect for busy women looking for consistency, accountability, and support on their journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth road…what’s that? I left a government position with a steady paycheck every 2 weeks to become a full-time business owner and follow my dreams. So financially, I have made a lot of sacrifices and no one tells you that it’s super expensive to be an entrepreneur. The fees alone for every little thing do not make it easy. Some of the struggles have been not only financial but also trying to achieve balance and staying focused and disciplined. When you are a business owner you don’t have the structure.
So it’s been an adjustment having to learn to establish office hours, block out distractions, and constantly make decisions or put out fires. Also, you still deal with all types of people and good help can be hard to find. Lastly, you have to not get discouraged when things go wrong, it comes with the territory and each day is a different day. So you get up with a fresh start, you learn to get creative and overcome obstacles daily and push through towards the overall goal and vision.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Mission Slim-Possible Gym offers a 24Hour free weights membership, personal training, pop-up fitness events, and private women’s fitness parties. The free weights membership comes with access to our 3 boxing bags, peloton bikes, squat racks, and so much more. Our trainers are certified and specialize in strength & conditioning, weight loss, mobility, etc. Our women’s slim-possible private parties allow you to customize your experience to celebrate birthdays, bachelorettes, independence, fun girls’ night out, and women’s group parties. You can choose from our group fitness classes such as W.A.P. (Waist, Abs, and Peach), Hot Seat (sexy chair dance), Twerkout (high energy twerk class), and Sass (a sexy choreographed dance). You are also able to upgrade your party to include a beverage bar, a 360 photo booth, or an amazing photo backdrop.
We are most proud of being able to boost women’s confidence every single day. We have been featured on Fox 5 Dc Lion Lunch Hour and in Rolling Out magazine. We take pride in creating a safe space for women to dance, work out, and move without judgment in every capacity.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Done is better than perfect so just start and stay the course. In everything I do, I always want everything to be perfect before I launch. But the reality is nothing is ever going to be perfect and perfect is an image that we create in our minds. We are our own biggest critic and no one sees the flaws but you.
So we have to get out of our way and just get started, you can improve as you go along because this journey is not linear. So embrace the journey, learn new things, try new tactics, and stay consistent. Eventually, something will stick, something will work, and you will figure it out. There is a light at the end of the entrepreneurship tunnel.
