Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Hufnell.
Hi Erica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In high school I was very into photography, but life got hard and i stopped taking pictures. When I got married in 2021, one of my friends was our photographer and I was just in awe of her (on my wedding day lol). Her light and energy inspired me to photograph weddings. She allowed me to second shoot for her and I learned SO much watching her work. She also let me share some of the photos I took at her weddings which helped me book more wedding clients. I am so grateful for her willingness to help. Most of the photographers I have worked with and befriended have a community over competition mindset which I carry with me.
I am in my third year of business now which is hard to believe. After having a family of my own, I have gotten more into photographing families. I know how old photos of my grandparents/parents get passed down like heirlooms. I love looking through a stack of old photos. I know how important memories are and I love to be a part of capturing those memories for families.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mostly not having something I needed on a wedding day or gear malfunctioning. Every mistake was a learning experience and it always worked out fine. Sometimes you can’t learn the lesson until you make the mistake I guess. So far they have all been fixable but that doesn’t mean I don’t have nightmares still lol.

I photograph weddings and families. I offer various wedding packages, family sessions, and a newborn/maternity package. I love that one because I get to come back and meet the baby!
I shoot both film and digital.
My approach is very observe and shoot. I don’t pose much, just keep you moving around to different locations, keep you talking and present in your body as much as I can. I want the final product to look and feel like you.

I have been sober for 11 years!
