Proper Nutrition is an all-natural Healthy Cafe that serves a variety of healthy products. Our products are an easy way to treat your body to balanced nutrition in a moment’s notice.
Three years ago, I was overweight, pre-diabetic, and depressed. I needed to make a change to boost my self-esteem and instill self-confidence. After learning about Herbalife products through a high school friend, I lost over 50 lbs, and my confidence skyrocketed.
I came up with the idea of Proper Nutrition because I wanted to help people gain the same confidence and get the same results I now have.
We are on a mission to make the world healthier & happier by offering different flavors of low-sugar, vitamin-filled protein shakes and smoothies the we can teach you how to make at home.
Each Shake/Smoothie has More Vitamin A than a Mango, More Vitamin C than a Banana, More Protein than a Chicken Thigh, More Fiber than 1⁄2 cup of Broccoli, More Calcium than 6oz. of Yogurt, and More Iron than 1⁄2 cup of Beans.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. Finding the right location is the biggest obstacle for a brick and mortar. You want adequate foot traffic while being visible from a main highway. Unfortunately, the right location doesn’t come cheap. After being outbid numerous times, we finally settled on our location in Pasadena, MD.
Permitting with the Health Department also posed problems. The health department wants your location to be laid out in a certain manner. Finding the appropriate dimensions and scaling your build-out to meet their requirements was pretty tough, but we got it accomplished.
Marketing was also a hurdle we needed to get over. Google Ads so far has been our best friend.

Something surprising about us is that I mastered branding back when I was a rapper. As a rapper, you have to market yourself, your personality, your beliefs/morals to the world so your audience can buy into what you are saying. I believe it’s the same thing as a business. It’s a certain ethos about the company that clients want to follow. Therefore, I owe my company’s brand success to my time as a rapper.
