Inspiring Conversations with Camryn Yi of Reformed by Camryn, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camryn Yi.

Hi Camryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I was always a little entrepreneur. I remember picking flowers as a kid and selling them to my neighbors, and later starting a small clothing business in high school. I’ve always had a business mindset and knew pretty early on that I wanted to build something of my own.
In high school, when it came to promoting my business, I had to step into every role, including being my own social media manager. That’s when I started to realize I had a natural talent for it. I also naturally gravitated toward content creation. I was always filming my day-to-day life and even had a YouTube channel where I would document fun trips and friends.
That mix of business and creativity really stuck with me. In college, I found myself constantly drawn to social media, content creation, and marketing roles, especially within my sorority and through internships. I actually started out studying biochemistry, but the more I explored those experiences, the more I realized my passion was somewhere else. I ended up switching my major to Communications with a minor in Marketing, and I knew right away I made the right decision.
After graduating, I took a job in Washington D.C. at a social media agency and honestly loved every second of it. It gave me real, hands-on experience working with clients, learning from other social media managers, building strategies, and seeing the impact of the work in real time. At the same time, I always knew I wanted to start my own agency. My team there was really supportive of that goal when I moved to Baltimore, which gave me the confidence and push I needed to actually go for it.
That’s when Reformed by Camryn was born! Since August, I’ve been building it day by day, working with local businesses, growing within the DMV, and continuing to learn so much along the way. It’s been really special to turn something I’ve always been passionate about into something I can call my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Starting something on your own, especially right out of college, comes with a lot of uncertainty. There’s no clear roadmap, and you’re constantly figuring things out as you go.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance everything. When you run your own business, you’re not just doing the creative work, you’re also handling sales, getting your name out there, client communication, finances, and strategy all at once. That shift from just creating content to running an actual business was something I had to grow into.
There were also moments of self-doubt, especially in the beginning. Putting yourself out there, reaching out to businesses, and trusting that you can deliver results takes confidence that you build over time, not overnight.
At the same time, those challenges have been some of the most valuable parts of the journey. They’ve pushed me to become more confident, more adaptable, and more intentional in how I approach my work and my business.

As you know, we’re big fans of Reformed by Camryn, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Reformed by Camryn is a social media marketing agency focused on helping brands, especially restaurants and local businesses, elevate how they show up online through strategic, high-quality content.
What I do goes beyond just posting on social media. I work closely with clients to build out a full content strategy that highlights not just their products, but their overall experience, personality, and brand identity. From content creation to posting, captions, and analytics, I manage everything in a way that allows business owners to focus on running their business while knowing their online presence is being handled intentionally.
Something that sets me apart is how hands-on I am with my clients. I’m very intentional about who I work with because I want to be able to give each brand my full attention and 100%. That level of involvement allows me to really understand their business and create content that feels authentic to them. I also naturally think in both visuals and strategy, so social media marketing feels like a second language to me.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how far I’ve come since starting. What began as an idea in a Google Doc has grown into a real business. I’ve taught myself how to run every part of it, and building that from the ground up at 22 and 23 is something I’m really proud of.
At the end of the day, I want people to see my brand as more than just social media management. It’s about helping businesses feel confident in how they present themselves and creating content that not only looks good, but actually brings people through the door.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’m so grateful to have such a strong support system, both now and throughout this entire journey. My family has been incredibly supportive from the beginning, always encouraging me to go after what I want and believing in me even when I was still figuring things out.
My friends have also played a huge role. Whether it’s supporting my work and my vision, coming with me to content shoots when I need an extra hand, sending me ideas, or just being there through the ups and downs, they’ve been such a constant source of motivation.
I’m also really grateful for the team at Brand Capture, the social media agency I worked at after college. They were fully supportive when I started my own business, which isn’t something you always find. That support gave me the confidence to take the leap and go all in. Even now, we still support each other, and I’m forever grateful for the experience I had with them.
And of course, my clients deserve a lot of credit as well. Taking a chance on me, trusting me with their brand, and allowing me to be part of their business has meant everything. Their support is what allows me to keep growing and doing what I love.
