Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Holloman.
Hi Antonio, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The last time VoyageBaltimore shared my story, it was 2021. I had recently earned my MBA with a concentration in Social Media Marketing, and I was building The JetLyfe around a simple belief: where you come from should never determine where you’re capable of going.
At the time, I was primarily known for my footwear. I had created premium Italian leather shoes, had designs featured in Vogue Italia and GQ Italia, published a gratitude journal, and I mentioned that I was “working on apparel and a few other projects.”
Well… apparently I had a lot of “other projects” in me. 😂
The last five years have been a lesson in evolution, resilience, and learning how to keep building when you don’t have a massive team or unlimited funding behind you.
The JetLyfe has continued to evolve from a collection of products into a broader lifestyle brand built around intentional living, elevation, and the idea that lyfe is not a spectator sport. I’ve expanded the apparel side of the business, continued developing footwear, written and published another book, filed additional trademark applications, and most recently began developing the Flight Set™, a travel-inspired women’s athleisure collection.
One of the biggest changes in my journey, however, has been the way I’ve learned to use artificial intelligence.
My introduction to AI wasn’t about trying to replace people or find shortcuts. I could see technology moving forward, and I wanted to understand it. I completed AI-focused coursework through LinkedIn Learning and the University of Maryland, then began applying what I learned in my professional career. I even created a custom GPT to help train members of my sales team.
Ironically, I spent a lot of time encouraging other people to learn AI before I seriously considered what it could do for my own business.
That changed when I began using AI-generated imagery to keep The JetLyfe visible on social media. I created an apparel concept, posted it, and someone asked me how they could purchase the outfit.
There was only one problem.
The outfit didn’t exist. 😂
Instead of simply telling them it was an AI-generated image, I asked myself a different question: What would it take to make it real?
That question sent me into fabric composition, GSM, four-way stretch, moisture-wicking materials, flatlock seams, tech packs, sampling, manufacturing, and product development. AI didn’t do the work for me, but it helped me learn while I built. It became a tool I could question, challenge, and use to better understand subjects that were new to me.
Today, I’m still a solo entrepreneur in many ways. I’m still funding much of the vision myself. I’m still learning. I’m still building. The difference is that I’ve become much more intentional about using the tools available to me.
A high school teacher of mine, Mrs. Barbara Watts, once told me that I didn’t need to know all the answers. I just needed to have an idea of where to look to begin my journey.
It took me years to fully understand what she meant.
Sometimes, as an entrepreneur, you have no choice but to be a one-man show. Having the right tools can make sure the show goes on.
That’s where I am today.
Still curious. Still learning. Still building.
And The JetLyfe is still taking off.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? 😂 Absolutely not.
One of the biggest challenges has been trying to build a vision that is often bigger than my current resources.
The JetLyfe has largely been self-funded. When you’re funding a business out of your own pocket, every decision carries weight. A trademark filing competes with product development. Product development competes with marketing. Marketing competes with website costs. Sampling competes with manufacturing. Then real lyfe taps you on the shoulder and reminds you that you still have personal responsibilities too.
There is no magical “entrepreneur money” account that refills itself every morning. 😂
For much of this journey, I’ve also been a one-man show. That means I’m the founder, strategist, marketer, researcher, product developer, content creator, customer service department, and sometimes the guy staring at the screen at midnight asking, “Why isn’t this working?”
The financial challenge is obvious. The mental challenge is harder to explain.
When you build alone, every question lives in your head. Every decision. Every doubt. Every idea. Every problem. Your brain becomes a conference room where every seat is occupied by you.
CEO Antonio has a question for Marketing Antonio.
Marketing Antonio needs to speak with Product Development Antonio.
Product Development Antonio is waiting on Finance Antonio.
Finance Antonio would like everybody to shut up because we don’t have the budget for any of this. 😂
I’ve also had periods where the business simply wasn’t moving the way I wanted it to. There were times when The JetLyfe was still alive in my mind, but I wasn’t actively doing much with it. I had the website. I had the vision. I had products. What I didn’t always have was momentum.
That’s a hard thing for entrepreneurs to admit because social media has made entrepreneurship look like one continuous highlight reel.
It isn’t.
Sometimes you’re building.
Sometimes you’re learning.
Sometimes you’re recovering.
Sometimes you’re questioning yourself.
Sometimes you’re trying to figure out how to pay for the next step.
And sometimes you are simply trying not to let the dream die while you handle the rest of lyfe.
I’ve learned that being stuck and being finished are not the same thing.
Another challenge has been learning industries and processes I didn’t grow up around. I wasn’t raised in fashion manufacturing. I didn’t have a family member who could introduce me to a factory. I didn’t have a product-development team sitting beside me explaining fabric composition, GSM, sampling, minimum order quantities, or technical specifications.
I had to learn.
That’s actually where my relationship with AI became so important. It gave me a way to begin asking better questions faster. Not to blindly accept every answer, but to understand enough to research, verify, challenge, and continue the conversation.
I’ve always believed applied knowledge is power. Knowing something is nice. Using what you know to move forward is where the power shows up.
The road still isn’t smooth. I’m currently working through funding challenges as I move the Flight Set™ from concept and market validation toward manufacturing. I’ve applied for grants. I’ve filed trademark applications to make sure the brand is protected. I’ve spoken with manufacturers. I’ve built technical documents and product specifications. I’ve asked people publicly which designs they would actually wear and tracked the responses.
I’m doing the work.
Slowly sometimes.
Imperfectly sometimes.
But I’m doing it.
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that limited resources may change how I get somewhere, but they don’t automatically get to decide where I’m capable of going.
I may have to take a different route.
I may have to learn something new.
I may have to build with tools I didn’t have five years ago.
But as I’ve said before, any lane I get in is mine, because I’m in control of the vehicle that is my lyfe.
The road hasn’t been smooth.
Good thing I know how to drive.
As you know, we’re big fans of The JetLyfe. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The JetLyfe is a travel-inspired lifestyle brand built around one core belief: where you come from should never determine where you’re capable of going.
I often say, “Lyfe is not a spectator sport.”
You can’t just sit in the stands watching your own lyfe pass by and claim you’re in the game. At some point, you have to move. You have to explore. You have to take chances. You have to decide what elevation looks like for you and intentionally move toward it.
That’s the spirit behind The JetLyfe.
The brand originally grew from my love of travel and the idea that seeing more of the world can change how you see yourself. Over time, that philosophy expanded beyond travel itself. The JetLyfe became about movement, comfort, confidence, and elevation.
Today, the brand includes apparel and footwear, and I’m currently developing the Flight Set™, a women’s travel-inspired athleisure collection.
The Flight Set™ is probably one of the best examples of what makes The JetLyfe different because the idea didn’t begin in a traditional design studio.
It started with an AI-generated image.
I had been experimenting with AI imagery to keep the brand visible and creatively explore ideas. Someone saw one of the outfits and asked how they could purchase it.
They couldn’t. It didn’t exist. 😂
But instead of ending the conversation there, I became curious about what it would take to turn the concept into a real product.
That curiosity became product research. Product research became conversations about fabric composition, four-way stretch, moisture-wicking materials, GSM. Do you know what GSM is? I know I didn’t before this 😂 Then there’s seams, fit, sampling, and manufacturing. I eventually began developing a complete collection of colorways and asking my audience which designs they would actually wear.
That’s an important part of how I build.
I listen.
I ask questions.
I test ideas.
I learn.
Then I apply what I’ve learned.
People always say that knowledge is power. I believe applied knowledge is power. Think of how much knowledge went to the graveyard and ask yourself how powerful that knowledge is 🤔
Brand-wise, I want The JetLyfe to sit at the intersection of luxury, comfort, and elevation. Our tagline is “Never Felt It This Good.” That isn’t just about how a piece of clothing feels against your skin. It’s about the feeling of arriving somewhere mentally, professionally, personally, or physically and realizing you are no longer the person you used to be.
I want people to feel good in what they wear, but I also want the brand to remind them to participate in their own lyfe.
The JetLyfe isn’t built around pretending everyone has private-jet money. 😂
It’s built around the mindset that you can be intentional about where you’re going, how you’re growing, and how you show up along the way.
What sets the brand apart is the story behind it and the way I continue to build it. I’m a solo entrepreneur using curiosity, education, technology, customer feedback, and every tool available to me to bring ideas to lyfe.
I don’t have a massive product-development department.
I don’t have a marketing floor full of people.
Sometimes the meeting is just me, my iPad, a cup of tea, and AI. 😂
But the vision is real.
The work is real.
And the products we’re building are designed to represent movement.
Because at the end of the day, The JetLyfe has never just been about what you wear.
It’s about where you’re headed.
Any big plans?
I laugh when people ask me about my future plans because my brain is rarely working on just one thing at a time. 😂
The immediate priority is bringing the Flight Set™ to market.
Right now, I’m moving through the process of product development, manufacturing conversations, funding, and market validation. I’ve already shared the concepts publicly and asked people which colorways they would actually wear. I’ve been tracking that feedback because I don’t want to build products in isolation and then hope people understand them after the fact.
I want the people who may eventually wear The JetLyfe to have a voice in how we grow.
I’m also actively pursuing grants and other funding opportunities to help move the brand forward. One of the realities of self-funding is that the vision can sometimes move faster than the bank account. 😂 I’ve learned not to confuse a financial delay with a failed idea. Sometimes the next step simply requires a different strategy.
Beyond the Flight Set™, I want to continue expanding The JetLyfe into a recognizable travel-inspired lifestyle brand. I see opportunities in apparel, footwear, and products designed around movement, comfort, and intentional living.
I have ideas that I’m intentionally not talking about publicly yet.
I learned at least a little something over the last five years. 😂
Another area I’m excited about is writing.
I recently returned to long-form writing and began publishing a series on Substack called “How AI Became My Business Partner When I Couldn’t Afford a Team.” The series explores how curiosity led me to AI, how I began using it as an entrepreneur, and how it has changed the way I learn and build.
The first two parts are already live, and readers can find the series on Substack by searching for @mrjetlyfehimself. I invite people to check it out and subscribe because the story is still unfolding. I’m writing each part while continuing to live and build the journey I’m writing about, which has been an interesting experience in itself.
Writing isn’t actually new for me. Years ago, I had a blog called The Lyfe Alert, and I’ve published a gratitude journal (on Amazon) and a book titled “The Rich Don’t Procrastinate.” I think I’m rediscovering a part of myself that never really left. I just got busy building other things.
I’m also very interested in continuing to explore artificial intelligence, not just as a business tool, but as something I can teach other people to use more effectively.
One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that people think they need to understand everything AI can do before they begin using it.
You don’t.
Heck, I’m still learning. 😂
The key is to stay inquisitive.
I want to continue learning, experimenting, and sharing what I discover, especially with entrepreneurs and professionals who may not have large teams or unlimited resources. AI cannot replace your judgment, your experience, or your responsibility to verify information. But used intentionally, it can help you ask better questions, learn faster, and offload some of the mental weight that comes with trying to figure everything out alone.
Long term, I want The JetLyfe to become bigger than products.
The products matter. Absolutely.
But the philosophy matters too.
“Lyfe is not a spectator sport” is more than something I say on social media. I believe it.
I want to build things that encourage people to participate in their own lyfe. Travel. Learn. Create. Build. Start over if you need to. Ask questions. Try something you’re not completely qualified to do yet and learn what you need along the way.
I don’t know exactly what every chapter of the future looks like.
Five years ago, I couldn’t have told you that an AI-generated outfit would eventually send me down the path of learning apparel manufacturing.
That’s the beautiful part.
I have a direction.
I have curiosity.
And I have enough experience now to know that I don’t need every answer before I begin the journey.
As for what’s next?
Let’s just say The JetLyfe still has a few things in the hangar.
I’m just not opening all the doors yet. 😂
I hope the readers will continue to follow me along in the process, as we continue to move through time at the speed of Lyfe ✌🏽
