Inspiring Conversations with Angelina Griffin of Value Family Legacy, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelina Griffin.

Hi Angelina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2013, one of the most important people to me passed away, my grandfather. When that happened, my whole mindset shifted. I knew that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and step out for more. At that time I was going on year 20 living in Atlanta, GA. I was coordinating events with the focus of community development and empowerment, as well as working as an administrative assistant for a real estate management company. So, I sought out opportunities outside of Atlanta in the DC/Maryland area, and ended up elevating to a higher position within the company I worked for and relocated to Maryland. As soon as got to the area, I began studying for my real estate license and attending networking events to meet new people in the real estate industry. In less than one year of living in Maryland, I got licensed as a real estate agent, and I joined forces with some local real estate investors that were like minded. As time went on, taking many classes, and getting whole lot of hands on experience, I became an Investor’s agent, meaning, I primarily would work with investors, specifically those that focused on community development and empowerment. Special thanks to my brokerage, WDC Homes for always being supportive. In 2018, I saw some people scramble trying to bury a loved one. It was difficult, and made me realize the true benefit of having life insurance. Plus, I also got tired of seeing so many personal acquaintances of mine posting GoFundMe fundraisers when their loved ones passed away. I was emotionally driven to make an intentional decision to become a licensed life insurance producer. I began educating peers and strangers alike on the benefits of creating a legacy with real estate and life insurance, My passion grew, and I just merged them all together and started Value Family Legacy. I am now licensed to sell life insurance in various states across the country. I am able to consult real estate clients and pass along referrals to my peers in the industry where I am unlicensed. My passion to educate the underserved, especially the underserved small business community, has allowed me to grow Value Family Legacy, and service customers and clients remotely. I also credit that opportunity to COVID-19.

Everything that I do is to make my family and ancestors proud. The goal is to create a legacy by supporting others as they create theirs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Personally, I take the struggles in stride. I try to make it as smooth as I can. I feel like I’ve spent most of my life struggling with something, so I learned to be appreciative, because the struggle is temporary. And when things are going really great and smooth, I remain appreciative, remembering the struggle and stay grateful through it all. I think that just comes from my faith and how I was raised.

Professionally, It has not been the smoothest. Luckily, I’ve learned the importance of earning multiple streams of income; which includes keeping my day job. Because when you are in sales and serving a niche market, it can be up and down. But the benefit of now having a more open demographic since my business has gone virtual has helped. I’ve even added additional remote services that are solutions based for my clients. It’s like turning lemons into lemonade.
Although I’ve worked in the real estate industry for 12 years plus, and have been licensed for going on 8 years, my actual business is new. I feel like I’m always reinventing myself. *smile*

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I am a member of Business Network International (BNI),  and the podcasts are amazing.  Also, The Moneyist blog on MarketWatch.com written by Quentin Fottrell is an absolute favorite. It’s a smart money resource kind of blog, but also entertaining,
