Inspiring Conversations with Alexis Jones of Transcend Clinical Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Jones.

Hi Alexis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
From the time I was a little girl, I have truly always enjoyed helping and supporting people. It was no surprise that I decided to embark on a career in Social Work. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have extensive experience helping children, adults, and families navigate challenging situations in an array of settings including schools, home-based services, and child welfare.

Child Welfare has always had a special place in my heart and I quickly excelled in the ranks from Social Worker to Supervisor, to Bureau Chief. However, when the pandemic hit, it was revealed to me during my prayer time, that God was calling me to focus on my business, Transcend Clinical Services full time. I hesitantly left my position as Bureau Chief in June 2020.

Upon leaving, I quickly became “booked and busy” and I recognized a significant increase in the number of individuals seeking therapeutic services and the push to be intentional about self-care. I decided to contract a team of Clinicians to join TCS and help me fulfill the mission of creating safe spaces for individuals to feel heard and supported.

Throughout my personal and professional experiences, I recognized that there was limited black and brown representation in the mental health space. Therefore, I made it my mission to create an organization where the BIPOC community could feel SEEN. I have devised a phenomenal team of clinicians that are committed to helping their clients gain clarity and self-awareness, heal, and transcend beyond their current circumstances and self-imposed limitations.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In today’s society entrepreneurship is highly glamorized and the workload is underestimated. Especially, if you pride yourself on building a business that is done in excellence, has superb customer service, and provides quality services. I truly underestimated the countless hours of mental real estate business occupies as I am constantly thinking about ways to improve and get better.

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was the internal battle of stepping outside of my comfort zone and betting on myself. I had a great job, making decent money and helping people in a capacity I thought would be lifelong. Therefore, it took a lot of willpower to overcome the fear and doubts to step out on faith and pour my time, energy, and effort into something that at the time felt “uncertain.”

However, when I made the leap everything fell into place exactly as it should; it is mind-blowing the amount of people we have been able to serve as a result of that single decision to leave the comforts of my 9-5. When you are walking in your purpose your gifts and talents will make room for you.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is leaving a mark on this world in a way where I was able to change the trajectory of individuals’ lives. Success is leaving a place or space better because I was present. Success is helping others to believe in themselves and improve their overall well-being. Success is helping people to TRANSCEND beyond their self-imposed limits.
