Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayo Lasaki
Hi Tayo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved to do things with my hands and try to repair broken things around the house so while I was seriously searching for what the next step I wanted to take in life was 10yrs ago, being a carpenter fell in my part.
It was a roller coaster at the beginning but one thing I never did was give up. I didn’t want to fail or stop so I kept Persevering and pushing till today and it doesn’t even end here, lol. I started as a carpenter and being a female most people didn’t take me seriously. I had to do a lot of convincing to get jobs.
I have now grown to be more than just a woodworker/carpenter as I have acquired more skills on the way. One thing about me is that I keep learning, I don’t stop. I try to grow and learn new trends to stay in the game. I always want to stand out, no matter how little so I work so hard to make sure I do that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road
I initially struggled with getting jobs at the beginning of my career cause I had to do a lot of convincing being a female
I have also struggled with getting stable help/employee
This job requires a lot of physical labor and it’s more like going to work out at work all day, everyday, lol
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tayasaki Designs?

One thing about working with me is that being a female, I pay more attention to details than your average handyman 🙂
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I appreciate the cultural diversity, local cuisine, parks and vibrant communities. On the flip side, I don’t like the traffic congestion, pollution and high living costs.
