Today we’d like to introduce you to Shania Thomas.
Shania, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Gui’Shani was birthed over 25 years ago by my father. He produced a couple of shirts and hats with Gui’Shani on them. Fast forward 20 plus years later in 2018, we decided to start making custom shirts and other personalized products. 2019 we added our own brand of cosmetics, and 2022 we have expanded and added purses and bags to our brand.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is not for the weak. 2020 I had to leave my career, and when I say it has been nobody but God and my faith that keeps me going. My biggest struggle has been marketing and really figuring out who my target audience is. Finding your audience is key in entrepreneurship. My business has been 100% funded out of pocket by myself and with the help of my parents.
We’ve been impressed with Gui’Shani, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Gui’Shani was initially started back in the early 2000s by my father Guy. He started with some shirts and hats but didn’t stick with it. 2018 my father invested in my vision to do t-shirt printing. We called that business Gui’Shani Printing. But I always seen the name Gui’Shani big, so I had a desire to have our own makeup line. 2019 Gui’Shani Sophisticated Beauty was birthed. We came out with our own vegan eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, lip glosses, and foundation. 2022, I had a dream of our own bags (purses, travel bags, etc.). We released our own purses April of 2022 and have designed and sold 10 bags since our first initial drop. Our mission as a brand is to provide high-quality luxury items at affordable prices for our customers. We want all of our products to be affordable and obtainable no matter their situation.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I always love to encourage others and leave them with the scripture Habakkuk 1:3. Write the vision and don’t give up. It’s going to be hard at times and seem impossible, but please don’t give up. Nothing worth having comes easy. If you dreamed it, then you can achieve all of it.
