Hidden Gems: Meet Ronald Schuster of Drs. Schuster and Schreiber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Schuster.

Hi Ronald, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
How I became a Plastic Surgeon in Baltimore was a result of both professional and personal events which shaped my decisions. I became interested in Plastic surgery while attending the University of Maryland School of Medicine. It was during rotation in General surgery that I was exposed to some Plastic surgeons that piqued my interest. I was immediately captivated by the creativity and attention to detail that defines what it is to be a Plastic Surgeon. Throughout my training in General Surgery, a pre-requisite before entering into a Plastic Surgery residency, I met and worked together with Plastic surgeons who would eventually ask me to join their practice. My experience with them allowed me to excel quickly once entering my residency in Plastic surgery at Barnes Hospital in S. Louis, Mo., part of Washington University.

During this whole time, it was my relationship with my college sweetheart and eventual wife that impacted my decisions of where to attend the areas that I would receive my training. After meeting at Emory University in Atlanta, we were constantly faced with location dilemmas since she was two years younger. She attended medical school at U of MD as well and then stayed in Baltimore to complete her training in Pediatrics. The difference in years required each of us to compromise in location in order to stay together. Eventually, those years evened out and we were both able to go to St. Louis together for my extraordinary training in Plastic Surgery.

We eventually returned to our familiar roots in Baltimore and the rest is history.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My road to the present was a continuously forward moving process, at times smooth and straight, at other times bumpy with turns. It was always hard making the best decisions which would affect us both. Moving to St. Louis, though what turned out to be temporary, was difficult because we did not have any family nor friends for support. We had both of our sons while in St. Louis which was hard for two busy docs. After returning to Baltimore, it was certainly exciting to begin to perform the type of surgery I had worked so hard to learn. But medicine itself was changing fast and learning the business of medicine was and remains a challenge.

As you know, we’re big fans of Drs. Schuster and Schreiber. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Board Certified Plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery. My areas of expertise center around rhinoplasty (nasal surgery), facial cosmetic surgery (facelift, eyelid surgery, neck lift), breast and tummy tuck surgery. I have 30 years of experience and have built a reputation for great results, honest recommendations and thorough post op care. My office emphasizes a relaxed confidential approach to help patients achieve their goals in looking the best they can.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
