Today we’d like to introduce you to Preeti Vasudeva.
Preeti, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a South Asian planner, I saw a gap — many venues and vendors didn’t fully understand the depth, scale, and beauty of our celebrations. So I became not just a planner, but an educator and advocate for cultural fluency in the industry.
I’ve been in the event industry for over 20 years, but I always say this career chose me as much as I chose it. I started with a deep love for hospitality, culture, and creating meaningful experiences for people. What began as planning beautiful celebrations quickly evolved into a focus on luxury and multicultural weddings—particularly South Asian and fusion destination events.
Over the years, I realized my real gift wasn’t just logistics or design — it was understanding people. Navigating family dynamics, honoring traditions, blending cultures, and creating experiences that feel both deeply personal and flawlessly executed.
Through consistency, word of mouth, and a commitment to excellence, I built Preeti Exclusive Events into a brand known for elevated service and cultural expertise. And now, I’m expanding beyond planning into education and certification — helping train the next generation of planners and hospitality teams to understand South Asian weddings globally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been linear. There were moments of burnout, moments of doubt, and moments when I had to reinvent parts of my business to align with the level I knew I was capable of operating at, globally.
As a South Asian woman building a luxury brand in a competitive market, I had to advocate for my worth early on—especially when educating clients and venues about the complexity of multi-day cultural weddings.
And on a personal level, life experiences — including health challenges — have entirely shifted my perspective. They reminded me that what we create isn’t just an event; it’s a memory families will hold onto forever. That realization deepened the intention behind everything I do.
Looking back, the road wasn’t smooth — but it was purposeful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Preeti Exclusive Events is a luxury wedding and event planning firm specializing in high-touch, multicultural, and South Asian destination celebrations. We design and produce multi-day wedding experiences around the world that honor tradition while embracing modern elegance.
We offer full-service and partial planning for destination and local weddings, as well as day-of coordination for DMV weddings. Most recently, the proud recipient of Favorite Wedding Planner in the U.S. and Caribbean by the RSVP Awards.
What sets us apart is our depth of cultural fluency combined with strategic precision. South Asian weddings are complex — multiple ceremonies, hundreds of guests, intricate traditions, layered family dynamics — and we approach them with both reverence and refined structure. We don’t just plan events; we engineer experiences.
Our clients come to us for discretion, elevated service, and the ability to navigate nuance. Whether blending Indian and Italian traditions in Rome or orchestrating a multi-day celebration across continents, we operate with a global mindset and meticulous detail. And of course, weddings in the DMV get all of our love and attention, too!
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built. Many of our clients come through referrals — families who value excellence and feel deeply understood. That reputation for integrity and cultural expertise is something I’ve protected for over two decades.
Beyond planning, we’re also expanding into education by training planners and hospitality professionals to understand South Asian wedding standards globally. My vision is to raise the bar across the industry — not just through the events we produce, but through the knowledge we share.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always the one organizing things — family gatherings, school projects, little celebrations. My parents would always host large gatherings and loved themes. I learned the art of parties early on. I loved structure, but I also loved beauty and meaning. I cared about how things felt.
I was sensitive in the best way — tuned in to people’s emotions and dynamics. I think that’s why I’m able to navigate complex family situations now with grace. Even as a child, I wanted harmony.
I was also quietly ambitious. I didn’t always say it out loud, but I had a strong internal drive to build something meaningful. That mix of empathy and ambition has really defined my path.
