Hidden Gems: Meet Krystal Wilkes of Plush Beauty Service LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Wilkes.

Hi Krystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began as an overworked Operations Manager in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. My day-to-day included:
– Managing over 300 employees.
– Running a Fortune 500 business while trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19 onsite.
– Acting as a full-time teacher for my daughter due to the school shutdown.
– Trying to ensure that I stay healthy so I can continue to do my job well – 2020 was a very tough year for me.

I was worn out physically and mentally. I’d often call my mom crying about how unhappy I was with my career and how my job had a negative impact on my ability to parent effectively. At times, I would feel that I was over dramatic, but after hearing that other people were experiencing the same as me, I decided to do something about it. Why would I continue to stay in a career that doesn’t make me happy? Why stay in a job that doesn’t give me the work-life balance I need to be a great parent? After much thought and a lot of prayers, I decided to take a step out of faith and quit corporate America. There are so many avenues one can take when becoming an entrepreneur. I’ve always loved helping others, and anything Health & Beauty related, so I decided to become a Certified Body Sculptor. With body sculpting, I can help others look and feel beautiful, whether for a wedding, a vacation, or a fresh breakup. Body Sculpting can not only transform your body but your mind as well. “When you look good, you feel good…” – Deion Sanders. Recently. I’ve brought on a new business partner, Breanna McFarlane, who will help manage Plush Beauty Service Baltimore while I manage Plush Beauty Service Rancho Cucamonga.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is never a smooth road when you start your own business. I’ve had many struggles along the way, such as trying to build consistent clientele, separating my business from other similar companies, marketing strategy, sales, and consistency. Without those challenges, I would not be able to grow as a business or an entrepreneur. From those struggles, I have learned what does not work, what will work for Plush Beauty Service LLC, and that consistency pays off.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For many people, there aren’t enough hours in the day to complete tasks, work out, eat healthily, or do self-care. Our goal at Plush Beauty Service is to help others achieve their health and beauty goals by decreasing the time it takes to attain them! Plush Beauty Service (PBS) provides our clients with a wide variety of beauty services and products while keeping their time in mind without compromising health and wellness goals.
PBS specializes in weight management using a wide range of body sculpting techniques, including but not limited to Wood Therapy, Ultrasound Cavitation, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening, Vacuum Therapy, and Non-invasive Brazilian Butt Lift. In addition to body sculpting, we also offer tooth gem services.

What sets Plush Beauty Service apart from other body sculpting companies are the techniques used to help clients lose between 2.5 – 7.4 inches in their first session and give them guidelines on maintaining their results. I am most proud of my brand overall! Everything that you see, I’ve created on my own, from my logo and video ads to my website. I am so thrilled that all of my hard work has not gone unnoticed. There was a time when I would sculpt people for free to have some content to post. Now I have new and repeat clients, two business locations, and an awesome business partner. I want your readers to know that Plush Beauty Service (Baltimore) offers 15% to first-time clients. Also, Plush Beauty Service is planning a class to certify anyone interested in Body Sculpting. I will post class details on

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting?
My advice to those just starting is to be patient and stay consistent. Have patience; your business will not grow overnight. I’ve had conversations with many entrepreneurs that stated it took them at least 3 years to see their business scale. Always be consistent! Don’t let anything deter you from your goals. This is how your business gets noticed and how you’re able to grow and scale your brand. Something I wished I knew before starting is being able to receive free grant funding for your business. For a long time, I funded Plush Beauty Service with my own money, creating stress. Do the research and start looking for government grants to help fund your business. There are so many government grants that specifically fund minority-owned businesses.
