Hidden Gems: Meet Jesse Sandlin of Sally O’s, Bunny’s, and The Dive

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Sandlin.

Hi Jesse, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
i grew up in baltimore as a latch key kid. my mom & stepfather both worked and i got home before they did, so i had chores to do and cooked dinner a lot of nights waiting for them to get home.
i never really saw being a chef as a career at the time, but stumbled into it after working at anne’s dari creme in glen burnie during high school and then when i moved to california it became a part time job until i decided it was more up my alley than any other job i had had at that point.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about sally o’s, bunny’s, the dive?
the three restaurants all have very individual personalities, concepts and voices. i think that they are all really genuine in their aim at hitting their individual concepts and being accessible to a wide variety of people and neighbors. we aim to give great service and food in a non pretentious environment.

What were you like growing up?
i was a pretty normal kid i think. a decent student, until late in high school when i got a little wild. i’ve always been a free spirit and bit outspoken and i’ve been told i have a big personality.
