Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsa Barrientos

Hi Elsa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a self-taught baker who stumbled into making custom cakes for a living. Growing up I always enjoyed baking and loved any arts and crafts project. In 2020, baking was one of the many hobbies I picked back up during the pandemic. I made my first-ever layered cake for my mom’s birthday and from there, my family and friends started ordering cakes from me.

I like to say I accidentally started a small business because I never planned to start my own business, but now I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

My Marketing and Supply Chain Management background has aided me in running and growing OhlalaComi. A lot of the growth OhlalaComi has seen over the last two years has been through our social media efforts and word-of-mouth — but I think what has helped the most (as cheesy as it sounds) is doing it all with love and passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far it’s been a pretty smooth road, there’s been lots of learning along the way but I think having an eternal student mindset has helped me be proactive about all aspects of the business.

OhlalaComi is a made-to-order, home bakery specializing in designer, trendy, and vintage cakes. We make cakes for any occasion, from mini just-because cakes and birthday cakes to tiered wedding cakes.

Each cake is one-of-a-kind made for that special someone or special event. No matter how big or small your celebration is, we’ll work with you to uncover your ideas and make your vision come to life.

Once we’ve discussed your design ideas, all that’s left is picking the flavor of the cake. Customers can choose from a selection of cake flavors from our traditional or vegan menus. We have something for everyone!
