With more than 20 years of experience in financial services and a strong background in accounting, I began my career supporting various businesses, both large and small enterprises. However, my true passion emerged when I started supporting professionals in the beauty industry, including barbers, hairstylists, nail technicians, and makeup artists. I found fulfillment in helping these beauty professionals take control of their finances and thrive.
That’s why I launched SmartBooks HQ. My goal is not only to teach bookkeeping but also to simplify it. I aim to make the numbers clear and the path forward even clearer. From QuickBooks Online and budgeting to tax preparation and cash flow forecasting, I provide tools and strategies that align with the daily realities of beauty businesses.
I believe a business tells a story through its numbers, and when an entrepreneur understands that story, they can grow with confidence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been smooth sailing, but that’s where the growth was. One of the most difficult things initially was gaining trust with the business owners and trying to meet the real-world needs of beauty professionals.
Many barbers and hairstylists didn’t feel visible or supported when it came to their business finances. I learned that the traditional methods of bookkeeping didn’t apply to the unconventional cash flow cycle of service-based businesses.
I was tasked with the challenge of building trust in a sector not used to doing things formally. But I developed strong relationships through consistency and actual results. Each struggle was helping me to refine my method. Today, I am proud to offer a service that not only make a difference for beauty professionals ready to grow their business with confidence.
