Hidden Gems: Meet Amanueal Daba of Pier 5 Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanueal Daba.

Hi Amanueal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Amanueal Daba, but you can call me Aman or Amansavestheworld

My journey with a camera actually started when I was five years old. My mom bought me my first camera, and I never really looked back. Even at that age, there was something about capturing a moment and being able to hold onto it that fascinated me. What started as curiosity eventually became a genuine love for photography, filmmaking, and storytelling.

That idea is also where my username, Aman Saves the World, comes from. “Save” has a double meaning for me. I think about it the same way we save a document on a computer. With a camera, I’m saving moments, memories, people, places, cultures, and stories. Every photograph I take or video I create becomes a little piece of time that gets preserved. In that sense, I’ve been “saving the world” since I was a kid, one moment at a time.

As I got older, I realized I didn’t just want to create beautiful content. I became curious about why certain stories connected with people, how brands built communities, and how creativity could help businesses grow. That curiosity pushed me beyond photography and filmmaking into marketing, strategy, and entrepreneurship.

Eventually, that journey led me to build Pier 5 Studios. What started as a creative production company has grown into a full-service creative and marketing agency working across production, marketing, social media, digital, events, and artist management. We’ve had the opportunity to work with brands and organizations across the U.S. and Ethiopia, constantly challenging me to grow as both a creative and a business owner.

The road definitely hasn’t been linear. There have been mistakes, difficult projects, long nights, and plenty of moments where I’ve had to figure things out as I went. But every stage has taught me something about creativity, leadership, people, and what it takes to build something from the ground up.

Today, I’m still that five-year-old kid who loves picking up a camera. The scale and purpose have just grown. Whether it’s through Pier 5 Studios or Aman Saves the World, I want to create meaningful work, preserve stories worth remembering, and keep saving little pieces of the world along the way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a creative business from the ground up meant learning through mistakes, dealing with financial uncertainty, difficult projects, and figuring out leadership as the company grew.

One of the biggest challenges has been balancing being a creative with being a business owner. There were plenty of moments where things didn’t go as planned, but each setback forced me to adapt, become more disciplined, and keep moving forward. Looking back, those struggles shaped both the entrepreneur and creative I am today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Pier 5 Studios is much more than a production company. We’ve built the company around five main pillars: Creative & Production, Marketing & Social Media, Web & Digital, Events & Experiences, and Artist Management.

On the creative side, we produce everything from commercials, branded content, photography, documentaries, and social content to larger productions. Our marketing team handles strategy, social media management, digital campaigns, advertising, and brand growth. Through Web & Digital, we help brands strengthen their online presence through websites and digital experiences. We also produce and manage events and experiences, while our Artist Management division allows us to work directly with creatives and talent to develop their brands and careers.

At the center of all of those services is what we’re known for most: creative storytelling.

What really sets Pier 5 apart is our industry experience and our ability to bring all of these disciplines together. A client doesn’t have to hire one company for strategy, another for production, another for social media, and another for digital. We can take an idea from strategy and concept all the way through production, distribution, and growth.

That’s what I’m most proud of. Pier 5 has evolved into a creative ecosystem where brands, businesses, and artists can come with an idea and have a team capable of helping them Imagine More.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is growth, impact, and creating opportunities for others. I want to build things that are bigger than me and use creativity to open doors for people who may not otherwise have those opportunities. At the end of the day, I want my work to mean something, not just to me, but to the people and communities around me.
