Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex & Tyler Hardman.
Hi Alex & Tyler, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Our story started with a shared background in competitive athletics and a passion for performance training. Both of us, Alex and Tyler, are former college sprinters with experience in football and baseball, so we’ve lived firsthand what structured training, proper recovery, and smart programming can do for performance and injury prevention.
Alex went on to earn a Master’s degree in Human Performance: Strength & Conditioning and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, along with NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and ACSM Certified Personal Trainer credentials. Tyler earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and holds an ACSM Personal Trainer certification.
After years of training clients and athletes, we combined our academic knowledge, certifications, and real-world experience to build a training approach that bridges the gap between high-level performance and everyday fitness. That vision became a reality in December 2024, when we opened our own personal training studio. Today, we apply the same principles we used as athletes to help clients move better, get stronger, recover smarter, and perform at their best.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. While we were confident in our training and coaching abilities, the business side came with a learning curve early on. Designing our own website, navigating county requirements, and making sure everything was set up legally took time and effort that we hadn’t fully anticipated. On top of that, starting with a very limited budget meant slower growth in the beginning. We had to be strategic, patient, and hands-on with everything—from marketing to operations—while building our client base from the ground up. Those challenges pushed us to become better not just as coaches, but as business owners, and they ultimately helped lay a stronger foundation for long-term success.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a performance-based personal training studio built on the belief that high-quality coaching should be both effective and accessible. We offer one-on-one and small group training, virtual training, stretch therapy, and recovery sessions, allowing us to support clients not only in how they train, but how they move and recover as well.
With a combined 12 years of experience in the field, we’ve worked with a wide range of individuals—from Junior Team USA athletes to people just beginning their fitness journey. That range has shaped our ability to meet clients where they are, individualize programming, and deliver results in a safe, sustainable way. Our background in performance training allows us to apply elite-level principles while keeping sessions approachable and realistic for everyday clients.
What truly sets us apart is our commitment to doing things differently from the traditional commercial gym model. After years of working in big-box gyms, we learned not only what works, but what doesn’t—overcrowded sessions, one-size-fits-all programming, and pricing structures that make consistent training unattainable for many people. Our goal from day one was to lower the barrier to entry by offering pricing that allows clients to train multiple times per week for the same cost they might pay for a single session elsewhere.
Brand-wise, what we’re most proud of is the culture we’ve created—one rooted in trust, education, and long-term development. We’re not about quick fixes or trends; we’re about building stronger, more confident people through intelligent training, proper recovery, and genuine coaching relationships. We want readers to know that our studio is a place where quality, integrity, and affordability come together, and where every client—regardless of background or experience level—receives the attention and care they deserve.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
As a business owners, We’ve really appreciated how supportive local residents and other small businesses are of one another, and how willing people are to build genuine relationships. Glen Burnie is filled with hard-working people that create a great community. One challenge is that the Baltimore area can feel very fast-paced at times, so it can be difficult for people to slow down and make time for themselves, their health, and personal connections.
