Good morning Gabriel, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m constantly chasing growth—in life, in business, and within myself. Since college, my daily mantra has been to get better every day. Every moment is an opportunity to learn and evolve. I’m focused on becoming a better person and entrepreneur with each step I take, staying open to new experiences and insights. If I were to stop, it would mean settling or becoming too comfortable—and that’s not an option for me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Gabriel Massalley, and I’m the founder and creative force behind Status Apparel DC, a lifestyle brand that blends culture, identity, and purpose. Status Apparel DC is about more than fashion—it’s about empowering individuals to stand proudly in who they are. Every piece we create carries a message of positivity, craftsmanship, and connection to community. Right now, we’re focused on expanding our reach, creating meaningful collaborations, and continuing to design collections that inspire people to live the “Status Way of Life.” For my brand Status is influence, positive influence. Encouraging being driven, motivated and positive.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Travel has been the most transformative experience for me. Every time I step outside my comfort zone and immerse myself in a new culture, I gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives. Those moments have challenged how I see the world and have broadened my approach to life and creativity.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re on the right path. I know you want things to happen quickly, but trust that the time and experiences you’re gaining now are preparing you for something greater. Keep working, stay patient, and remain open to the journey. You’ll see and feel the love and success that’s waiting for you.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Authenticity. I stand firm in being myself at all times—never compromising my thoughts, knowledge, or creativity regardless of the space I’m in. The years I’ve spent honing my craft have made me a resource, and I carry that confidence with me wherever I go.

I believe I’m doing what I was meant to do. Creativity has always been my outlet, whether through design, art, or other forms of expression. Building Status Apparel DC allows me to channel that creativity into something that not only reflects who I am but also spreads positivity and inspires conversations. Through this work, I’m able to leave a meaningful impact on the people I meet and the community I serve. That is what fuels me.
